Original job description
About ETC
Extreme Technology for Extreme Conditions. Extreme Telematics Corp. is a Calgary-based industrial technology company founded in 2001. ETC designs, manufactures, deploys and supports ruggedized electronic controls, sensors and device-management technology for harsh environments and hazardous locations. Twenty-five years in oil and gas well optimization established the company's market foundation and a product portfolio that operates reliably in conditions that defeat standard commercial electronics. That same operating credibility now positions ETC to grow well beyond its core market.
We’re a collaborative, practical team that adapts quickly and follows through on our commitments. We own our work, solve problems together, and focus on solutions that make a real difference.
We value contribution over titles. If something is broken, we fix it. If you have an idea, bring it forward.
The Role
As ETC's Operations Manager, you'll keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly while building the processes and systems we need to grow. Supply chain is the core of the job. You'll manage the suppliers and manufacturing partners who build our products and keep materials and finished goods moving on time. From there, you'll connect the work across the business, from product quality to customer relationships and delivery.
This is a hands-on role with broad responsibility for the people, systems, and processes that keep ETC running, including contracts, facilities, IT, health and safety, and compliance. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to solve problems, improve efficiency, and find practical ways to support ETC's continued growth.
Responsibilities
Supply Chain Management
- Manage supplier relationships and supply chain activities to keep materials, products, and services arriving on time.
- Manage relationships with the contract manufacturers who build our products, including production schedules, quality, and cost.
- Plan inventory levels that meet business and customer needs.
- Oversee purchasing, sourcing, and logistics to manage costs while maintaining quality standards.
Operations and Process
- Manage day-to-day operations across departments so the work lines up with ETC’s business goals
- Build the operational strategies, tools, and processes that help every department scale and keep improving
- Manage contract set-up, review, and implementation to protect ETC’s interests and support strategic partnerships
- Maintain processes and systems that meet applicable industry and international quality standards.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure ETC meets its compliance requirements.
Facilities & IT Management
- Keep ETC's workplace safe, functional, and well-maintained, including managing external providers for cleaning, maintenance, and facility improvements.
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations and work with external IT providers to ensure our systems, processes, and controls support the business.
- Integrate health and safety requirements into daily operations to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
Customer Support
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and external partners, helping ensure a positive customer experience.
- Support internal teams with the information they need to keep customers informed and resolve issues.
- Oversee outbound shipments and support the product return (RMA) process.
- Help resolve customer concerns, product quality issues, and returns.
- Represent ETC positively with customers and partners, helping strengthen relationships and support business growth.
Leadership and Planning
- Lead, support, and develop your team, creating an environment where people can do their best work.
- Turn business priorities into clear, actionable plans and keep the team on track.
- Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and make cost-effective decisions.
- Contribute to business planning by identifying resource needs, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Represent ETC at industry events and conferences when aligned with business goals.
What You Bring
- 5 to 8 years of operations experience with a strong supply chain focus, including purchasing, sourcing, and supplier management.
- Manufacturing experience is an asset, particularly working with contract manufacturers in a company that designs or supplies physical products.
- A degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in operations, supply chain, business, or a related field
- Experience managing suppliers and vendors, including delivery timelines, costs, and quality expectations.
- Hands-on experience with purchasing, inventory management, and ERP systems.
- Experience working with quality management systems and supporting audits.
- Experience leading, supporting, and developing a team.
- Ability to manage a variety of operational responsibilities, from supply chain and quality to facilities, IT, and workplace safety.
- A track record of improving processes, solving problems, and finding practical ways to make operations more efficient.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
Why ETC
- Real ownership and room to shape how a growing company operates.
- A comprehensive benefits package and retirement savings program.
- Paid vacation and additional company-designated days off.
- Health and wellness support, including a fitness allowance and Employee and Family Assistance Program.
- Professional development and opportunities to grow.
- Flexible work hours to support work-life balance.
- A grounded, collaborative team. We take the work seriously and keep the atmosphere light and respectful.
