The opportunity

Pension and benefit programs are becoming increasingly complex as organizations respond to changing workforce expectations, financial pressures, transaction activity and evolving governance requirements. EY's People Advisory Services Reward team brings together actuarial, legal, compensation and tax professionals to help clients understand and manage these challenges.

As a Manager in our Pension Actuarial practice, you'll lead actuarial and advisory engagements across pension valuations, audit support, transaction due diligence and broader pension and benefits consulting. You'll work directly with clients to translate complex actuarial findings into practical business insights, while managing project teams and delivering high-quality work across multiple engagements.

You'll also collaborate with EY professionals across disciplines and geographies, contribute to the development of our people and solutions, and help strengthen client relationships and grow the practice.

Your key responsibilities

Lead pension actuarial and advisory engagements, including pension and post-employment benefit accounting, audit support, transaction due diligence and related consulting projects.
Oversee actuarial analyses, assumptions, models and client deliverables, applying sound professional judgment and maintaining a strong focus on quality.
Translate complex actuarial results, financial impacts and risk considerations into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and clients.
Manage engagement scope, timelines, budgets, priorities and risks while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary EY teams and clients.
Serve as a key client contact, build trusted relationships and identify opportunities to provide broader pension, benefits and Reward support.
Lead and coach team members, review their work and support their technical and professional development.
Collaborate with audit, transaction, tax, legal, HR and compensation professionals to deliver integrated client solutions.
Contribute to business development through proposals, presentations, market insights and the development of new client opportunities.
Identify opportunities to strengthen methodologies, improve processes, enhance efficiency and manage engagement risk.
Stay current on developments affecting pension plans, post-employment benefits and the broader retirement landscape, and share relevant insights with clients and colleagues.

Skills and attributes for success

Strong pension actuarial knowledge, supported by sound analytical, financial and professional judgment.
Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Experience building client relationships and communicating technical concepts clearly to actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
Ability to review complex analyses, identify key issues and translate findings into practical, executive-ready insights.
Effective team leadership and coaching skills, with a collaborative approach to working across disciplines.
Commercial awareness, curiosity and a proactive approach to identifying client needs and improving how work is delivered.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and confidence using Microsoft Office tools to develop analyses, reports and presentations.

Qualifications

University education in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or a related field.
Associate or Fellow designation from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, or an equivalent recognized actuarial credential.
Typically, 5 or more years of relevant pension actuarial experience, including pension valuation and post-employment benefit accounting work.
Experience managing actuarial projects, reviewing the work of others and interacting directly with clients.
Consulting, audit support or transaction-related pension experience is an asset.
