Original job description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

Whether supporting small private companies or large publicly traded organizations, our clients rely on us for accurate financial information, strong reporting processes, and robust accounting support as they navigate complex transactions. We are helping organizations align with parent‑company accounting standards, prepare opening balance sheets, and perform preliminary purchase price accounting.

We collaborate closely with other transaction teams performing due diligence, M&A, valuation and tax services throughout the transaction lifecycle, and support post‑closing process improvements to accelerate financial statement close timelines. Our work also includes supporting key finance cycles during integration and stabilization and preparing clients for future transactions or capital‑markets activities, including IPO readiness in Canada and the United States.

The FAAS Strategic Transaction Advisory and Accounting & Reporting (STAAR) group recognizes your skills and the value you bring, offering competitive compensation packages that reflect your experience and ambition. As part of a Big Four firm, you will gain access to large‑scale clients, diverse and complex mandates, and a network of global specialists who support your technical growth and career progression. Performance is strongly valued: your contributions and impact are recognized and rewarded, enabling faster and well‑deserved advancement. FAAS provides the opportunity to work on high‑impact projects, collaborate with talented professionals across Canada, and advise leading clients on strategic financial transactions.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Advisor, you will be a professional member of our Advisory Services, Financial Accounting (SCCF) team. In Canada, our specialized SCCF team consists of financial information and accounting advisory professionals located in five offices. We possess technical accounting expertise in IFRS as well as Canadian and U.S. GAAP, practical experience in financial reporting processes and internal controls, and an in-depth understanding of industries and regulations.

This job posting is associated with an existing vacant position within our organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

Participate in a variety of engagements (research on the application of accounting standards to various transactions, assessment of financial and governance processes, support in transitioning to a new accounting framework, benchmarking practices across different organizations, designing and delivering customized training, etc.)

Skills and Qualities for Success

Prepare clear deliverables tailored to client needs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (M&A, due diligence, tax, valuation, etc.).
Understand clients’ industry sectors and stay informed about accounting and regulatory trends and developments.
Contribute to an inclusive work environment focused on talent development.
Use technology to enhance efficiency and knowledge sharing.
Ability to work on multiple engagements in a deadline‑driven environment.
Eligibility Requirements
A degree in accounting or a major in a related field, along with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, and a Canadian CPA designation or an equivalent credential.
Experience in audit or in industry related to financial statement close processes or the application of accounting standards.
A strong team‑player mindset.
A commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
The ability to speak, read, and write in both French and English.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking individuals with a strong team spirit who support their colleagues in achieving their goals while keeping in mind their own workload and professional development. If you are confident in expressing yourself and can influence a team that assists major companies worldwide, this role is for you.

What we offer

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. In addition, our Total Rewards package allows you decide which benefits are right for you and which ones help you create a solid foundation for your future. Our Total Rewards package includes a discretionary bonus program, a comprehensive medical, prescription drug and dental coverage plan, a defined contribution pension plan, a great vacation policy plus firm paid days that allow you to enjoy longer long weekends throughout the year, statutory holidays and paid personal days (based on province of residence), and a range of exciting programs and benefits designed to support your physical, financial and social well-being. Plus, we offer:

Support and coaching from some of the most engaging colleagues in the industry
Learning opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career
The freedom and flexibility to handle your role in a way that’s right for you

Are you ready to shape your future with confidence? Apply today.

To help create the best experience during the recruitment process, please describe any accommodations you may need.
