This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst with strong Canadian property and casualty (P&C) insurance knowledge who enjoys translating business needs into practical technology solutions and collaborating across teams.

  • Plan and lead sessions with business and IT stakeholders to identify and review requirements, issues, and objectives.
  • Document current-state systems and processes, perform gap analyses, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare clear, traceable business and system requirements, including use cases, user stories, process flows, business rules, and screen mock-ups.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to explore innovative, cost-effective solutions that address business and system requirements.

Solution Delivery, Testing & Adoption

  • Participate in system design reviews and demonstrations to verify alignment with business needs.
  • Develop project test strategies and plans; participate in or lead functional testing, including execution and documentation of results.
  • Assist with or lead training for end users on new applications and business processes.
  • Follow up with end users to assess solution effectiveness and coordinate remedial actions when required.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Engage stakeholders and third-party vendors, communicate decisions clearly, and help build agreement on practical solutions.
  • Stay current with insurance processes and related technology developments to identify opportunities to automate, modernize, and improve business capabilities.
  • Support the IT team in developing and executing its operational and departmental plans.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in computer science, business, engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • At least five years of Business Analyst experience in the P&C insurance industry, together with strong knowledge of the Canadian P&C insurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance operations, processes, and business terminology.
  • Experience producing traceable business and functional requirements, including user stories.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supporting successful IT projects.
  • Strong proficiency with Jira and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across business and technology teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain requirements, ideas, and decisions clearly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and develop practical solutions.
