Original job description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Safely, efficiently and profitably lead a crew to achieve the progress, quality and schedule goals of each project. Plan the work, set clear expectations and give the team the direction and support they need to succeed.

Take ownership of your crew and the day-to-day running of your site. Solve problems within your role, ask for help early and follow through until issues are resolved. Work on the tools as needed while protecting time for planning, coaching, quality checks and safety.

HOW WE WORK AT FACTUM

We believe in and take care of our team. Treat people with respect. Teach patiently, give useful feedback and make sure the crew has what they need to work safely and do a good job.

100% Transparency. Share accurate progress, hours, mistakes and concerns. Raise problems early, explain the impact and help find a solution. No surprises.

Continuous improvement. Look for better ways to organize and install the work. Use feedback and lessons learned to improve the next day and the next project.

Hard work. Be prepared, dependable and ready to lead. Set the example, use the day well and follow through on commitments.

Act like a partner with the client, other trades and your own team. Listen to feedback, communicate professionally and help the project move forward.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Plan and organize the work. Maintain a two-week lookahead based on the project schedule. Set weekly goals before the Friday production meeting and clear daily goals for the crew. Check labour, materials, tools, drawings, details and access in advance. Raise anything that could prevent the work from going ahead.

Lead production. Delegate work clearly, match tasks to the team’s abilities and follow up throughout the day. Track installed quantities, labour hours and progress accurately. Compare results with production targets and budgeted hours; adjust the plan and involve the PM when work falls behind. Work on the tools as needed while maintaining responsibility for crew direction and production.

Lead and develop the team. Run a morning huddle at the start of each workday. Explain the work, targets, responsibilities and hazards. Train and mentor the crew, give constructive feedback and address concerns respectfully. Help new team members understand the site and Factum’s expectations. Lead by example in the field.

Deliver quality work. Read and understand the drawings, specifications and approved details. Ensure installations are straight, plumb and meet project and manufacturer requirements. Check work daily and before it is covered or the crew moves on. Record required quality control checks and photos in CompanyCam and follow deficiencies through to correction.

Keep the site safe and ready. Lead required safety huddles and complete PSA forms, lift checklists and other required records. Enforce PPE, safe-work procedures and hazard controls. Act on concerns immediately. Keep the site tidy, protect materials, maintain tools and equipment, and track inventory so shortages are raised early.

Communicate and follow through. Complete daily reports and required forms accurately and on time. Attend Friday production meetings, progress, training and other required meetings with current goals, results and concerns. Coordinate daily site activities professionally with the site superintendent and other trades.
