At Fairview, we believe in building strong partnerships, finding better solutions and continuously improving the products and services we provide to our customers.

With a long history in the fluid handling industry, Fairview has grown into an established manufacturer and distributor serving customers across North America. Our products support a diverse range of industries, and our continued success depends on the people who bring technical expertise, innovation and practical thinking to the work we do.

We are looking for a Product Engineer to join our team at our Oakville head office. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will contribute to the development and improvement of our products, support manufacturing initiatives and help deliver practical, cost effective engineering solutions for our customers.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, solving technical challenges and seeing ideas move from concept to implementation. You will work collaboratively with teams across Product Development, Quality Assurance, Operations, Sales and Supply Chain, with opportunities to contribute to projects that improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency and the customer experience.

What you will do

Product Development and Engineering

  • Support the development of new products and the improvement of existing products in collaboration with internal teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancements, material changes, cost reductions and new product offerings.
  • Develop engineered fluid solutions and work with customer engineering teams to determine appropriate technical applications.
  • Perform technical analyses and engineering calculations to support product design, selection and application.
  • Coordinate prototype development, testing, validation and implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain technical data sheets, product specifications, bills of materials, drawings and other engineering documentation.
  • Review supplier drawings and maintain appropriate revision and document control.

Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement

  • Work with Manufacturing to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and operational efficiency.
  • Support production layouts, space planning, material flow, equipment selection and process design.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and recommend solutions to reduce downtime, scrap, rework and process variation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, tooling improvements, equipment upgrades and more efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with other Fairview locations to support consistent procedures and best practices.

Research, Testing and Innovation

  • Support research and development projects involving new products, materials, manufacturing methods and technologies.
  • Research and evaluate materials, suppliers and processes for technical and commercial feasibility.
  • Develop testing plans and maintain accurate records of test results, design changes and project outcomes.
  • Maintain documentation to support Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) claims and other applicable research and development incentive programs.

Technical and Project Support

  • Provide technical support to Sales and customers regarding product selection, applications, troubleshooting and engineered solutions.
  • Work with Supply Chain and suppliers to assess materials, components, alternative products and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Evaluate product and supplier changes for their impact on performance, quality, compliance, cost and customer requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant industry standards, certifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead assigned projects from research and feasibility through design, sourcing, financial analysis, implementation and stakeholder coordination.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce product and manufacturing costs without compromising quality, safety, performance or compliance.

What you bring

We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with practical problem solving and a collaborative approach to engineering.

You will ideally have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Materials Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, industrial equipment, fluid handling or a related industry is preferred.
  • Experience interpreting and preparing technical drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, CAD software and technical documentation.
  • Experience with product testing, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, product certifications or SR&ED documentation is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers and customers.

Why join Fairview?

At Fairview, our values of Trust, Ownership, Innovation and Partnership guide how we work with our colleagues, customers and suppliers.

When you join our team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Make a meaningful contribution: Help develop products and solutions that serve customers across a range of industries.
  • Work across disciplines: Collaborate with teams throughout the business and see how engineering decisions influence product development, manufacturing and customer outcomes.
  • Solve real problems: Turn technical challenges into practical solutions that improve quality, efficiency and performance.
  • Bring ideas to life: Contribute to projects that support product innovation, continuous improvement and business growth.
  • Build your career: Expand your technical knowledge and experience within an established organization.

What we offer

  • Competitive annual salary of $65,000 to $70,000.
  • Comprehensive benefits coverage starting on your first day.
  • Eligibility for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
  • Full time, permanent employment.
  • An in person, collaborative working environment at our Oakville head office.
