Position Overview

As the Labourer - Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing carpentry and general labour tasks while ensuring quality, efficiency and production objectives are achieved by following the appropriate building code regulations, best practices and Fero standards.

Key Accountabilities

Perform general carpentry and installation on modular buildings and other projects, including interior and exterior finishes.
Work collaboratively to ensure efficiency in the build process.
Support various trades and/or subcontractors with daily tasks including flooring, drywall, insulation, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Safely use various power tools including, but not limited to drills, saws pneumatic tools including, nail guns, staple guns and hand tools when required.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
Identify and communicate production problems as they arise and take action to correct upon approval from the Supervisor or Production Manager.
Document and report on completed tasks, keeping accurate records of work performed.
Participate in both in-person and online training programs as assigned.
Maintain working area in a clean and orderly condition.
Consistently adhere to all health and safety protocols and comply with applicable regulations and codes.
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.
May perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of general carpentry experience.
Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
Working knowledge of building codes and regulations.
Experience with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment used in the trade.
Knowledge of construction industry trends and best practices.
Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable with technology and MS Office applications; knowledge of Fieldwire is preferred.
Ability to work overtime and/or weekends if required.

Physical Requirements

Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.
Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.
Bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, tight spaces and ladder use.
Working at heights.
Wearing PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses and gloves.
