Finning Canada is seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in Edmonton. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services, this role serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders and provides HR leadership that supports Finning's mission, vision, values, and long-term business objectives.

As a key member of the HR leadership team, you will partner closely with operations leaders to understand business priorities and translate them into actionable people strategies that drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, talent development, and business performance.

Job Description:

What You'll Do

Strategic Business Partnership

Collaborate with senior leaders and executives on workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, employee engagement, and leadership development.
Serve as a trusted advisor on workforce, organizational, leadership, and employee relations matters.
Partner with HR Centres of Excellence (COEs) to implement programs, policies, and initiatives aligned with strategic business goals.
Anticipate business needs and emerging trends, developing proactive HR solutions that support future organizational requirements.
Ensure compliance with employment legislation, labour regulations, and corporate policies.

Organizational Effectiveness & Talent Strategy

Partner with leadership teams to identify organizational needs and develop HR strategies that build organizational capability.
Support succession planning, leadership development, career development programs, and high-potential talent identification.
Lead and facilitate organizational change initiatives that support business transformation and growth.
Develop and implement policies, programs, and practices that align talent strategies with business objectives.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion.

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, and mentor a team of HR Business Partners.
Provide guidance on employee relations, labour relations, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, ability management, and workforce planning.
Build a highly effective HR team recognized as trusted partners across the organization.
Lead HR projects and initiatives while ensuring successful execution, resource management, and measurable outcomes.
Provide direction and support in labour relations matters, including grievance and arbitration processes.

Human Resources Programs & Operations

Support the successful delivery of core HR programs including compensation planning, performance management, talent review, and succession planning.
Provide leadership in the implementation and administration of HR programs across assigned business units.
Develop communication and education strategies that drive adoption and understanding of HR initiatives.
Partner with HR Centres of Excellence to identify opportunities for program enhancements and continuous improvement.
Conduct and oversee complex workplace investigations and employee relations matters.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Experience working with HRIS platforms; Workday experience is considered an asset.

Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or a related discipline.
CPHR designation (or actively maintained equivalent HR designation).
10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience within complex organizations.
Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience.
Proven success partnering with senior leaders and executives in a strategic HR advisory capacity.
Demonstrated experience leading organizational change initiatives and HR projects.
Strong knowledge of Canadian labour and employment legislation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting operations, manufacturing, industrial, energy, oilfield, or heavy equipment environments.
Experience working within unionized environments, including grievance and arbitration processes.
Knowledge of disability management, return-to-work programs, WCB, STD, and LTD administration.
Understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
