Heavy Equipment Operator – Excavator

Firma Contracting is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our field team on civil construction and earthworks projects throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.

This position is well suited for an experienced finish operator who is comfortable working around underground utilities, ground crews, and active construction sites. Wage: $42.00/hour

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operate excavators for civil construction, earthworks, and site preparation
• Perform finish and detailed excavation work
• Excavate and prepare areas for underground utility installation
• Load trucks and safely manage material movement on site
• Work safely around ground personnel, existing utilities, and other heavy equipment
• Assist pipe crews by lowering materials using appropriate rigging practices and procedures
• Follow excavation, trenching, and ground disturbance requirements
• Complete daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance requirements
• Maintain productivity while meeting Firma’s safety and quality standards
• Follow company policies, site procedures, and the Firma safety program
• Maintain a professional and respectful approach when working with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of excavator operating experience, with strong finish operating skills
• Experience working on civil construction and earthworks projects
• Municipal underground utility experience is considered an asset
• Strong understanding of safe excavation practices
• Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
• Ability to follow direction from Foremen and Superintendents
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience operating additional heavy equipment is considered an asset
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity

• Ground Disturbance Level 2
• CSTS 2020
• WHMIS 2015
