The Database Administrator (Operational DBA) is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, performance, availability, and security of enterprise database environments. The role supports both on-premises and cloud-based database platforms, ensuring reliable operation of critical business applications and banking systems.

Role
Database Operations and Administration
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, security, and capacity to support stable production operations.
- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
- Implement and support SSIS, SSAS, and ETL processes, including maintenance.
- Execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to support business continuity.
- Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to production incidents as required.
- Analyze and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and database configurations.
- Identify and resolve database bottlenecks, performance issues, and capacity constraints.
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
- Support high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Support Azure database services, including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and related Azure data services.
- Maintain hybrid database architectures spanning on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Application Development, and vendor teams on cloud modernization initiatives.
- Assist with database migrations, platform lifecycle activities, and cloud adoption projects.
- Implement database security controls, permissions, encryption, privileged access practices, and access reviews.
- Support compliance with corporate security standards, audit requirements, privacy obligations, and regulatory expectations.
- Perform vulnerability remediation and support database-related security reviews and audits.
- Maintain database standards, operating procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
- Provide operational database support for core banking, digital banking, and enterprise applications.
- Support database requirements for Temenos Banking platforms and related integrations.
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and service requests.
- Assist project teams with database design reviews, deployment planning, implementation, and change activities.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve monitoring, administration, maintenance, and reporting activities.
- Recommend improvements to database reliability, performance, capacity planning, and operational support processes.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer, operational resilience, documentation, and service improvement initiatives.
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience may be considered.
- 5 or more years of database administration experience in enterprise production environments.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Advanced SQL query writing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning capabilities.
- Experience managing backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience supporting production systems under defined service level expectations.
- Experience with both on-premises and cloud database platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure database services, with Azure SQL Managed Instance preferred.
- Experience working in hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience in the financial services, banking, or another regulated industry.
- Experience supporting Temenos Banking, Temenos Infinity, or related banking platforms.
- Experience with automation technologies such as PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting languages.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and database performance management tools.

Responsibilities

Support backups, recovery, disaster recovery, banking applications, cloud migrations, incident response, and operational improvements through monitoring, automation, and documentation.
Requirements
Requires a degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience. Candidates should have at least five years of enterprise database administration experience, strong SQL Server and performance-tuning expertise, and experience with hybrid cloud databases, Azure, production support, and backup and recovery; financial services and Temenos experience are also sought.
