Original job description

Come As You Are

Your gender, your beliefs, your love life, your skin, your abilities - all of it belongs here.

At Fittes, we celebrate diversity of background and diversity of thought. We are progressive, open-minded, and intentional about building a team that reflects different perspectives. That’s what pushes us to think differently and outperform our competitors.

If you’re excellent at what you do and committed to doing the work well, we welcome you, exactly as you are.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Research shows that women and people of colour are less likely to apply unless they meet 100% of the qualifications. If you’re excited about this role but don’t check every box, we encourage you to apply anyway. Tell us why you’re the right fit. You might be exactly who we’re looking for.

Compensation Range

$75,000 - $88000

*The posted salary range is typical for this position. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Hybrid Model

3 days in (Tuesdays required) + 2 days WFH

About Fittes

At Fittes, we’re on a mission to make the mundane exciting. We elevate unloved products with fresh design, bringing a new-school approach to an old-school industry. We’re a dynamic, female-owned-and-led product design company in Toronto experiencing exciting growth. We’re a team of disruptors driven by ambition, creativity, and accountability.

Collaboration, humility, and intentionality define our work environment, and our team’s results speak for themselves.

Curious about our work? We started with the first modular air register designed to customize to any surface, and have since expanded into multiple product categories. We’re a team focused on building something extraordinary and long-lasting, for both our customers and our people. See more on our Instagram, Glassdoor and website!

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on finance role for someone who wants to improve the numbers, not just report on them.

Finance keeps a fast-growing product company accurate, on time and profitable. As we grow, we want to stay small and mighty. We need an analyst who owns the budget process, reconciles high-volume Amazon and Shopify revenue, runs month end inventory with Operations, and becomes the go-to finance partner for any team that needs numbers crunched.

You’ll work independently and get real autonomy. When a variance shows up, we expect you to know why before anyone asks, and to come with options, not just a diagnosis.

To be clear about scope: this is an execution-led role. You own the budget process, reconciliations, sales reporting and month end inventory adjustments. You support pricing, margin and forecasting, and work alongside the Controller on month and year end. A full day or more each week goes to reconciliations and budget to actuals. If high-volume detail work isn’t for you, this isn’t your role.

You’ll report to our Financial Controller.

What you’ll own:

Financial Analysis, Pricing & Budget [40%]

Own the budget process: update budget vs. actuals, meet with budget owners and keep operating expenses at or under budget
Reconcile Amazon and Shopify revenue against SAP and payouts, accurately and at high volume
Support pricing: run price audits, set prices on new SKUs and keep price lists accurate so every customer invoice is right
Find and act on ways to improve Amazon margin through pricing, fee and cost analysis
Monitor gross margin trends and flag risks before they become surprises

Financial Reporting [20%]

Complete month end tasks and support the Controller on month and year end packages
Deliver monthly sales reporting the business can rely on
Prepare monthly HST returns and support the annual audit

Operations Support [20%]

Own month end inventory with Operations: process count results for all warehouses, post adjustments in SAP and explain variances
Give Operations a finance perspective on sales forecasting
Support inventory management, supply chain data, the returns process and ad-hoc problem solving
Track KPIs and spot cost savings opportunities

Process Improvement & Growth Projects [20%]

Take processes that work and make them better: simplify, automate and leave your mark, with at least one new or improved process every quarter
Build financial models, cost-benefit analyses and forecasts for cross-functional projects
Help the business get more out of SAP
Analyze business performance and recommend improvements

You’re a good fit if you:

Have 3+ years as a Financial Analyst or in a similar role (Finance Associate, Trade Analyst), with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business / Commerce
Are an Excel expert who builds clean, auditable models and reconciliations
Have worked through month end close against firm deadlines and stayed accurate through high volumes of data
Have taken over a process and made it better: automated a reconciliation, rebuilt a workbook or cut steps from the close
Have worked in an ERP. SAP is a plus, but NetSuite, QuickBooks or similar works too
Bring experience from a CPG, e-commerce or inventory-heavy business. Amazon or Shopify reconciliations and pricing work are a big plus
Are a self-starter who takes a challenge and runs with it, and can explain numbers clearly to people who don’t live in spreadsheets
Stay positive and approachable when priorities shift, and do your best work in a fast-growing, lean team
Bonus if you have working knowledge of financial statements, Power BI, or a CPA (or are working toward one)

Tech stack

Microsoft Excel (Expert)
ERP systems: SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks or similar (Intermediate)
Shopify and Amazon Seller Central reporting (Intermediate)
Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate)
Power BI (Developing)

What’s in it for you?

We’re not for everybody – and we like it that way. If mediocrity isn’t your jam, here’s what we can offer you in return for your hard work and discipline:

Real ownership of the budget, reconciliations and month end inventory, and the autonomy to improve how they’re done
Close work with senior leadership and room to grow into a Senior Financial Analyst role
Joining a high performing, fast-growing team driven by ambition
Pay-for-performance profit-sharing bonus structure
Super-immersive learning environment and the opportunity to develop your career with us, if you can keep up
Flexible and inclusive benefits including HSA
Employee Stock Option Plan
Hybrid work structure - we are committed to 3 days in office
Open concept, bright, dog-friendly office vibe (our furry friends can’t wait to meet you!)
Strict “No email/slack on phones” policy and “No email/slack outside of office hours” policy - we value our personal time and are committed to protecting this for our team members.
Fully stocked kitchen with snacks and fresh fruit
