Position Summary
Five Seasons Comfort Limited is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Concord, Ontario.
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and improvement of electric motor systems used in HVAC and air-cleaning equipment. The role will involve working closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, production, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to develop reliable and efficient motor-driven systems.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and an interest in practical, hands-on product development. Experience with HVAC motors, blower/fan systems, motor controls, variable-speed motors, and electrical components is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on projects involving electric motors, blowers, fans, and motor-driven HVAC systems.
- Select and evaluate motors and associated electrical components based on performance, efficiency, reliability, and application requirements.
- Develop electrical specifications and requirements for motors and related components.
- Evaluate motor performance, including speed, torque, power consumption, efficiency, temperature, noise, and vibration.
- Support the selection and integration of motor controllers, EC motors, PSC motors, BLDC motors, variable-speed drives, and other motor-control technologies.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate motor and electrical component specifications and performance.
- Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Support prototype development, laboratory testing, product validation, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and execute electrical and motor performance testing procedures.
- Work closely with Mechanical Engineering to integrate motors, blowers, fans, housings, and other mechanical components.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to ensure electrical and motor assemblies.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), including prototype builds, testing, validation, documentation, and production launch.
- Assist with the development and improvement of existing HVAC products and motor systems.
- Support compliance testing and certification activities where required.
- Ensure electrical designs meet applicable Canadian and international standards and company requirements.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, test reports, and technical drawings.
- Provide support to production, quality, service, and other engineering teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on product performance, energy efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and cost reduction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional engineering experience in electrical product design, development, testing, or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including AC/DC circuits, power systems, motor theory, and electrical components.
- Experience working with electric motors, blowers, fans, or motor-control systems is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, air-handling equipment, or air-cleaning products is considered a significant asset.
- Experience with EC/BLDC, PSC, induction, or other HVAC motor technologies is an asset.
- Familiarity with motor controllers, variable-speed control, PWM, sensors, relays, capacitors, and other motor-related electrical components.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Experience with product testing, troubleshooting, validation, and root-cause analysis.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and product certification requirements applicable to HVAC equipment is an asset.
- Proficiency with engineering and electrical design software is an asset.
- Experience working with suppliers and reviewing technical specifications and datasheets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, production, quality, and suppliers.
- Hands-on approach with the ability and willingness to work directly with prototypes, test equipment, and production equipment.

We are looking for an engineer who is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working from concept through production.
The ideal candidate can evaluate a motor or electrical system from both an engineering and practical perspective, identify performance or reliability issues, work with suppliers to develop solutions, and collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineers to integrate the final system into a manufacturable product.
Experience with HVAC motors is highly desirable, but candidates with strong motor systems, electrical product development, or electromechanical engineering experience will also be considered.
