About Flinks 🚀

Flinks is the embedded finance platform that brings together connectivity, intelligence, and payments - giving businesses the infrastructure they need to build and deliver seamless financial experiences at scale.

As a leader in Open Finance in Canada, we’ve grown since 2016 into one of North America’s most trusted platforms for financial data access, enrichment, and money movement. We work with innovators across many industries, including lending, fintech, banking, insurance, and wealth management.

Today, our platform connects to 15,000+ financial institutions across North America and powers over 1M monthly connections. We also give our customers unprecedented visibility into 4,500+ real-time financial insights to support smarter decisioning. Companies rely on Flinks to streamline onboarding, verify income, assess credit risk, and power faster payment experiences.

We’re on a mission to drive financial innovation and help businesses build financial experiences that feel effortless, connected, and customer-first. That’s where you come in.

What You'll Be Doing 🔥

Build and own our internal developer platform: a Backstage-based portal and service catalog with software templates that scaffold a production-ready service (repo, pipeline, infrastructure, dashboards, alerts, ownership) in minutes.
Define the golden path from commit to production: pipeline templates, environment promotion, and progressive delivery through our Kubernetes GitOps model (Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, Azure DevOps).
Encode standards as code: quality gates, security scanning, and policy checks live in templates and pipelines, not review checklists.
Shape how AI agents and assistants work in our SDLC: where they operate, what they can touch, and how their output is reviewed, traced, and approved. You will partner with Security and Compliance to make this work in a regulated environment.
Build agent-facing interfaces, such as MCP servers, that expose the catalog, pipelines, and infrastructure to AI agents safely. Track agent-assisted changes with the same DORA and quality metrics as human ones.
Evolve our cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure and extend self-service (Terraform, declarative APIs, PRs) so teams provision what they need with guardrails instead of tickets.
Cut developer toil: local development, preview environments, test feedback time, and pipeline duration.
Treat developers as your customers: gather feedback, document, drive adoption, and keep platform code tested, versioned, and maintainable.

Who You Are

At least 8 to 10 years in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with real software development along the way. Any language works (we use C#, Go, and Python); you write and maintain production code, not only configuration.
Hands-on Backstage experience (catalog, software templates, TechDocs, plugins), or you have built an equivalent internal developer portal and can walk us through it.
Kubernetes, GitOps (Argo CD or Flux), and Terraform in a major cloud. GCP or Azure is a plus.
CI/CD and release engineering: pipeline templates, environment promotion, safe rollouts and rollbacks.
You use AI coding tools daily and have a point of view on where they fit in a team's SDLC.
Working knowledge of observability: traces, metrics, logs, SLOs.
A practitioner, not a strategist: senior enough to drive initiatives and build from scratch with minimal direction. You do the hands-on work.

Great to haves

Custom Backstage plugin development, or running Backstage at scale
Building MCP servers or agent tooling, or integrating LLMs into CI/CD and developer workflows
Defining governance for AI-generated code: review standards, permission boundaries, audit trails
Policy-as-code and supply chain security (OPA, Kyverno, SBOM, artifact signing)
DORA metrics, developer satisfaction measurement, ephemeral environments
Regulated or financial-services delivery experience

Why This Role Matters at Flinks 💡

Greenfield: you define the golden path rather than inherit it.
Everything you build is used by every engineering team at Flinks.
High visibility: AI-enabled delivery is a top company priority.
You help decide how AI agents build and ship software in a regulated environment, in a strong learning environment with plenty already in place to build on.

The Interview Process 🏗

Introductory call with our Head of People
Hiring manager conversation
One-hour technical interview
