Working with our multidisciplinary team, you’ll turn creative ideas into prototypes and engaging experiences for physical spaces.

MANDATORY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
This is a hybrid role based in Montreal, requiring on-site presence at our studio three days per week. Applicants must be currently based in Quebec and legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.

RESPONSIBILITIES
CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY
- Contribute to the creation of interactive, generative and real-time experiences using TouchDesigner and other creative technologies.
- Translate creative concepts into technical prototypes and interactive experiences.
- Rapidly prototype ideas to explore and evaluate different creative and technical approaches.
- Develop and refine real-time visual content and interactive behaviours in TouchDesigner.
- Experiment with generative systems, data, sensors, cameras, tracking, audio and other inputs to create responsive experiences.
- Use Python and other scripting or programming tools where appropriate to extend functionality and create custom behaviours.
- Integrate different media, software, hardware and data sources into interactive prototypes and experiences.
- Contribute to the development of experiences, from initial prototype through production and final implementation.
- Test interactive experiences, identify issues and contribute to troubleshooting and refinement.
- Help optimize TouchDesigner projects for reliable real-time performance.
- Maintain organized project files and document technical solutions, configurations and workflows.
- Support on-site testing, integration and installation when required.
For more experienced candidates, the role may include the following additional responsibilities:
- Evaluate the technical feasibility of creative concepts and recommend appropriate technologies, tools and approaches.
- Develop and oversee complex TouchDesigner systems and workflows for large-scale interactive and immersive experiences.
- Create robust, optimized and maintainable systems designed for long-term operation in permanent installations.
- Lead technical prototyping and experimentation to validate creative and technological approaches.
- Identify technical risks and challenges early in the creative process and propose appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Creative, Technology, Production and other departments to define project requirements and technical approaches.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Establish and promote best practices for TouchDesigner development, project organization, documentation and performance optimization.
- Support on-site integration and troubleshooting of complex interactive systems.
- Contribute technical expertise during project scoping and planning when required.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
- Participate in R&D initiatives and technical experiments.
- Explore emerging tools and technologies relevant to interactive and immersive experiences.
- Experiment with new approaches to real-time graphics, generative content, interaction and physical-digital experiences.
- Create prototypes and experiments to evaluate the creative potential of new technologies.
- Share discoveries, prototypes and technical learnings with the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Degree, diploma or current studies in computer science, creative technologies, interactive media, digital arts, game development or a related field, or equivalent self-directed learning and project experience.
- Hands-on experience with TouchDesigner through academic, personal, internship, freelance or professional projects.
- Solid understanding of TouchDesigner fundamentals and its node-based workflow.
- Understanding of real-time graphics and interactive systems.
- Experience with Python scripting within TouchDesigner.
- Familiarity with fundamental programming concepts and logic.
- Interest in connecting software with real-world inputs such as sensors, cameras, audio, tracking systems or other devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and independently.
- A portfolio, demo reel, GitHub repository or examples of personal, academic or professional interactive projects.
- Fluency in French and English, spoken and written. English is required to collaborate with English-speaking partners and external resources, and to review and prepare documentation and project communications in English, as needed.
ASSETS
- GLSL or other shader programming.
- Generative graphics, creative coding or procedural content creation.
- Computer graphics concepts, including 2D/3D graphics, coordinate systems, textures and rendering.
- Sensors and tracking technologies such as depth cameras, LiDAR, computer vision or motion tracking.
- Communication protocols commonly used in interactive installations, including OSC, MIDI, DMX / Art-Net and timecode.
- Projection mapping, LED displays or multi-display systems.
- Real-time video, audio or data processing.
- Version control tools such as Git or Perforce.
- Other interactive or real-time tools such as Notch, Unreal Engine, Unity, Max/MSP or Realmotion™.
- Other programming languages or technologies such as C++, C#, JavaScript / TypeScript, Node.js or HTML/CSS.
- Familiarity with APIs and external data sources.
- Experience building physical computing or interactive projects using platforms such as Arduino or similar technologies.
- Experience with prototyping interactive experiences.
- Experience installing, testing or troubleshooting technology in physical spaces.
- Knowledge of Perforce, Google Workspace or Asana.
