Original job description

Flocor Inc., is subsidiary of Deschenes Group Inc. and a leader in the industrial pipe, valve and fitting distribution industry. We are searching for Branch Manager for our Sarnia, ON Branch. The successful candidate will maximize sales within Sarnia, ON and surrounding areas and will generate new and existing accounts. This position is responsible to organize, direct, control and evaluate the overall activities and performance of the Branch location according to established policies and procedures. This position is also responsible to develop and maintain sales from customers through personal sales calls to generate business from new and existing accounts.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with an emphasis in mechanical/industrial, and fire protection products. The incumbent will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our customers. Computer literacy is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the profit and loss relating to the activities of the Branch; to manage margin levels for maximum profitability and to control expenses and costs; to report financial data as required/requested
Responsible to assist in the preparation of the annual budget and sales forecasts as required/requested, to ensure targeted initiatives of the Branch are achieved as specified
Responsible to make personal visits on a regular basis to customers to develop business, advise of pricing and services and to generate and receive orders
Resolve customer issues and/or problems, liaise with inside sales, credit department and warehouse to investigate and resolve issues/problems, recommends improvements and corrective actions
Assist with the gathering, analyzing and reporting of information concerning price levels, new product introductions and competitive activity in the market served by the Branch
Responsible for material and product control; to ensure Branch has correct levels of inventory; to assess and adjust levels on an ongoing basis; conducts physical inventories and generates reports as required/requested
Assist with employee development by identifying training and skill set needs; targets staff for advancement; charts Branch succession planning; coaches employees as required/requested
Responsible for the maintenance of the property and physical facility; to ensure proper arrangements are made and maintained for fire and security, building maintenance and repairs in accordance with established guidelines and procedures; to maintain compliance with codes and legislated requirements
Resolve conflicts involving staff, vendors and customers; to promote and maintain a confidential “open door” environment
Ensure staffing levels are maintained; actively sources, interviews and hires personnel as required; ensures on-boarding/orientation procedures are executed and documented; conducts and documents employee performance and wage/salary reviews as required/requested
Ensure Company policies and procedures are communicated, implemented and enforced; to administer discipline as required including terminations; to ensure all Branch documentation is current and complete
Participate in the Company Health and Safety Program; to be knowledgeable in Health and Safety legislation; to undertake and promote training as required/requested; to ensure adherence to all Company Health and Safety Guidelines and Company compliance within legislated Health and Safety requirements
Assist with exhibitions and/or trade shows; negotiate with vendors for show specials; arrange staffing etc., as required/requested
Act as the senior level of contact and to work to strengthen relationships with key customer and supplier accounts
Remain current with regards to legislative knowledge and requirements including but not limited to Revenue and Taxation, Employment Standards, Health and Safety (WSIB.CSST/WCB), Payroll, etc
Attend management meetings as required/requested
Prepare and generate reports as required/requested
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 7 years’ experience in a managerial capacity with supervisory responsibility and background knowledge/experience in fire protection and/or plumbing and heating and/or industrial pipe and fittings
Secondary School Diploma or University Degree/College Diploma in Business Administration, Sales/Marketing or, a related discipline
A combination of education and experience
Proven business development skills
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blue prints is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal and negotiations/problem solving skills
Analytical ability with solid mathematical skills
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
Proven leadership capability, ability to motivate
Ability to grasp and communicate the technical aspects of the company’s products
Possess an intermediate level of computer competency with Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and web based applications
Self-starter, well organized with ability to prioritize and work to deadlines
