Original job description

About Flying Camel

Flying Camel is an agency with deep roots in the design and home products industry. We bring together strategy, creative, PR, social and paid media to help brands build visibility and grow.

As our agency evolves and our media portfolio expands, we’re looking for a Manager, Paid Media who combines thoughtful planning with strong execution. You’ll help shape how we invest our clients’ media dollars, connect campaigns across channels and turn performance data into clear recommendations.

About the role

You’ll own the day-to-day planning, buying, optimization and reporting of paid media campaigns across a portfolio of clients, including accounts with significant annual media investment.

This is a hands-on role with direct client contact. You should be equally comfortable building a media plan, launching campaigns, troubleshooting tracking, managing budget pacing and presenting results. Your strongest platform expertise will be in Meta and Google, supported by experience or familiarity with a broader mix of digital and traditional media.

You’ll work closely with our strategy, creative, PR and social teams to ensure paid media supports each client’s broader marketing goals. This role has no direct reports at present.

What you’ll do

Media strategy and planning

  • Translate client objectives, audience insights and budgets into clear media strategies and actionable plans.
  • Recommend channel mixes, investment levels, targeting approaches and campaign structures across awareness, consideration and conversion.
  • Develop forecasts, performance benchmarks and testing plans, explaining the assumptions behind your recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities across paid social, search, display, video, Connected TV, print and retail media.
  • Research audiences, media partners and emerging opportunities to support client recommendations and new business proposals.

Campaign buying and optimization

  • Build, launch and manage campaigns, with a primary focus on Meta and Google Ads.
  • Plan and execute campaigns across Microsoft Advertising/Bing, LinkedIn and Pinterest as appropriate.
  • Coordinate placements with publishers, media partners and vendors, including specifications, deadlines and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor budgets, pacing and performance, making proactive adjustments to improve results.
  • Develop and manage tests across audiences, creative, placements, bidding and landing pages.
  • Maintain strong campaign quality control, including naming conventions, tracking links, targeting and launch checks.

Measurement and reporting

  • Use GA4, Google Tag Manager, Supermetrics and Google Data Studio to support measurement and reporting.
  • Set up, validate and troubleshoot campaign tracking and conversion measurement, working with client or technical teams where needed.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and prepare reports that connect media performance to client objectives.
  • Turn data into clear insights: what happened, why it matters and what we should do next.
  • Track media spend and reconcile delivery against approved plans and budgets.

Client and team collaboration

  • Present media plans, campaign results and recommendations directly to clients.
  • Explain platform capabilities, performance trends and tradeoffs in clear, accessible language.
  • Partner with creative and social teams on briefs, content ideas and asset recommendations informed by campaign performance.
  • Help strengthen agency processes, templates and standards as our paid media practice grows.
  • When capacity allows, contribute to organic social planning and occasional on-site content capture, including trade shows and client events.

What you bring

  • 4–6 years of relevant paid media experience, gained at an agency, advertising platform or a combination of both.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads, including campaign setup, optimization, budgeting and reporting.
  • Experience developing media plans and managing substantial budgets across multiple campaigns or clients.
  • Experience with, or working knowledge of, Microsoft Advertising/Bing, LinkedIn Ads and Pinterest Ads.
  • Familiarity with print buying, Connected TV, Amazon Ads and retail media networks such as Walmart Connect and Loblaw Media. Direct buying experience in these areas is an asset.
  • Practical experience with GA4, Google Tag Manager, Supermetrics and Looker Studio.
  • Strong analytical skills, including budget forecasting, pacing and interpreting performance beyond platform metrics.
  • Confidence communicating with clients and presenting recommendations supported by data and sound judgment.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Curiosity about how audiences, creative and channel choices work together to drive results.

Additional assets

  • Experience with design, home products, lifestyle or B2B brands.
  • Organic social planning, copywriting or community management experience.
  • An eye for engaging social content and comfort capturing photos or short-form video on-site.
  • Experience supporting trade show or event marketing.
  • Relevant Google, Meta or other platform certifications.

What we offer

  • An annual salary of $70,000–$80,000 CAD, based on experience.
  • Benefits and paid time off.
  • A flexible hybrid model with two in-office days per month in Burlington, Ontario, with remote arrangements considered for the right candidate.
  • The opportunity to take ownership of meaningful media investments and help shape a growing paid media practice.
  • Close collaboration with agency leadership and colleagues across strategy, creative, PR and social.
  • Occasional travel for client events and trade shows, including an annual February trip to Las Vegas.
