About The CCFE

The Canadian Centre for Food and Ecology (CCFE) is a national Canadian charity working to educate and mobilize Canadians in support of a healthy food system that works in harmony with nature.

We design and deliver joyful, taste-forward programs that connect people with local food, producers, chefs, businesses, and community organizations. Our work brings together food systems knowledge, research, community engagement, and experiential learning to help create healthier, more resilient, and more equitable food systems.

The Opportunity

The CCFE is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and relationship-oriented Project Coordinator to help drive the successful delivery of our growing portfolio of food systems and community programming.

A significant focus of this role will be Flavour Harvest Spadina, a major multi-partner initiative supported by the City of Toronto's Community Economic Development Fund. The project brings together local restaurants, chefs, food producers, suppliers, community organizations, Business Improvement Areas, and residents to strengthen the local food economy through seasonal food campaigns, culinary programming, food tours, shared infrastructure, and community economic initiatives.

The Project Coordinator will also support other CCFE initiatives, including experiential programming, research and impact projects, community engagement, and emerging food systems programs.

This is a hands-on project delivery role with significant responsibility for day-to-day execution. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Strategic Programming, and coordinate operational delivery of assigned projects and workstreams.

You will be expected to anticipate needs, keep projects moving, communicate proactively, identify challenges early, and follow through on details.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate Flavour Harvest Spadina
Support the coordination of seasonal Flavour Harvest campaigns involving participating restaurants and food businesses.
Communicate with participating businesses, chefs, producers, suppliers, vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Support partner recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, communications, and follow-up.
Track partner deliverables, commitments, materials, and deadlines.
Support the coordination of campaign materials, including Food Passports, story cards, signage, and promotional assets.
Support community outreach and engagement activities across Chinatown, Kensington Market, and Queen West.
Assist with the coordination of food-system initiatives such as supplier networks, surplus food systems, shared infrastructure, CSA programming, and collective purchasing, as required.
Project Coordination
Coordinate day-to-day activities, timelines, and deliverables for assigned projects and workstreams.
Maintain project plans, task lists, schedules, and documentation using tools such as Asana.
Track deadlines, dependencies, and outstanding actions and follow up with team members and partners.
Coordinate meetings, prepare materials, document decisions, and track follow-up actions.
Identify emerging issues or delays and bring them to the Director of Strategic Programming with potential solutions.
Keep project information, partner records, schedules, and other documentation organized and up to date.
Partner & Community Coordination
Serve as a reliable day-to-day contact for assigned partners and workstreams.
Communicate timelines, expectations, deliverables, and next steps clearly and consistently.
Build positive working relationships with restaurants, food businesses, producers, community organizations, vendors, and other partners.
Support community consultations and engagement activities.
Listen to partner needs and concerns and share relevant information with the Director of Strategic Programming.
Events & Experiential Programming Support
Coordinate logistics for events, food tours, workshops, markets, and other public-facing programs.
Prepare event timelines, checklists, schedules, and run-of-show documents.
Coordinate registration, participant communications, venues, vendors, supplies, equipment, food, and other event requirements.
Confirm that partners and contributors have the information and resources they need.
Support event set-up, delivery, and wrap-up, including on-site support.
Help troubleshoot logistical issues and escalate issues requiring additional direction.
Administration, Data & Documentation
Maintain organized records of project activities, purchases, receipts, agreements, partner information, and other documentation.
Support the collection and organization of project data, participant information, feedback, and project learnings.
Assist with collecting information from participating businesses, including agreed-upon participation, sales, foot traffic, or other project indicators.
Support the preparation of materials for project and funder reporting.
Provide the Director of Strategic Programming with information needed for project tracking and financial reporting.

Required

Qualifications and Experience

2–4 years of relevant experience in project coordination, program delivery, events, community programming, nonprofit work, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build positive and professional relationships with external partners.
Strong follow-through, initiative, and comfort with proactive communication.
Ability to work independently, identify when support is needed, and escalate issues appropriately.
Strong digital literacy and comfort using project management, collaboration, and documentation tools.

Preferred / Assets

Experience coordinating multi-partner projects or community-based programs.
Experience working in a nonprofit, charitable, community development, social enterprise, or other mission-driven organization.
Experience coordinating public events, workshops, markets, or experiential programming.
Experience with research, data collection, evaluation, or impact measurement.
Experience working with restaurants, chefs, food producers, farmers, suppliers, or small businesses.
Familiarity with Toronto's local food ecosystem or community food initiatives.
Experience using Asana or a comparable project management platform.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position working 35 hours per week and based in person in Toronto.

The role involves regular interaction with community partners, restaurants, chefs, food producers, suppliers, vendors, participants, and other stakeholders.

The Project Coordinator will be expected to attend and support the delivery of events, workshops, markets, food tours, and other programming activities. Some evening and weekend work may occasionally be required in connection with public programming and events.

The position requires a willingness to work in a hands-on environment and to move between office-based coordination, community engagement, and on-the-ground program delivery.

Compensation

$49,500-$65,000 CAD annually, based on a 35-hour work week.
