Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan is advancing the McIlvenna Bay project, a cornerstone asset and one of the most significant copper development projects in Canada. With commercial production expected in the second half of 2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. We are committed to sustainable development, environmental protection, and building strong communities. We believe in empowering our people, fostering a culture of growth, and creating opportunities for meaningful careers as we build the mines of the future.

Reporting to the Safety & Security Superintendent, the Emergency Response Coordinator develops, coordinates and maintains emergency preparedness and response programs for the McIlvenna Bay Operation. The role leads the development and training of the site Emergency Response Team, coordinates exercises, maintains response equipment and procedures, and works with operational leaders to identify risks and strengthen readiness. The Coordinator helps ensure the site can respond effectively to emergencies involving people, the environment and company assets, while meeting regulatory requirements, company standards and the needs of a remote underground operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain site emergency response, crisis management and evacuation plans, procedures, contact lists and communication protocols.
  • Assess emergency risks, including underground mine emergencies, fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, environmental incidents and severe weather.
  • Coordinate preparedness across Mining, Mill, Maintenance, Camp, Safety and other departments, updating plans as site conditions change.
  • Ensure emergency programs meet applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Coordinate ERT recruitment, selection, training, development and coverage across shifts and departments.
  • Maintain an annual ERT training schedule and deliver mine rescue and surface training, including practical exercises, skills assessments and refresher training.
  • Coordinate other response training, such as firefighting, first aid and confined space rescue, as qualified.
  • Maintain training records, assess competency and identify additional training needs.
  • Support emergency responses by mobilizing personnel and resources, supporting incident command and coordinating with site leaders and external services.
  • Participate in response activities and take on designated duties when qualified and assigned.
  • Maintain emergency response equipment, vehicles and facilities, including inventories, inspections, testing and maintenance in line with regulatory requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and replacements, support procurement and budgeting, and keep response facilities and storage areas safe and organized.
  • Plan and evaluate drills and exercises with site personnel and external agencies; document lessons learned and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Support post-incident reviews, audits and regulatory inspections, and recommend improvements to site readiness.
  • Communicate preparedness requirements, coordinate employee and contractor awareness, support mutual aid arrangements, and report on program performance.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or certificate in Emergency Management, Fire Services, Occupational Health & Safety, Mine Rescue or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in emergency response, mine rescue, firefighting, industrial emergency services or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating emergency response programs, training or emergency response teams.
  • Experience in underground mining or a remote industrial operation.
  • Qualified Mine Rescue Instructor or demonstrated experience delivering underground mine rescue training with the ability to obtain the required instructor qualifications.

  • Mine rescue, firefighting, advanced first aid or other relevant emergency response certifications are assets.
  • Experience working with external emergency services and regulatory agencies.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $125,000 - $135,000/year based on experience and qualifications.

  • Annual discretionary short-term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
  • Employer-paid health, dental, and vision Benefits – effective on start date.
  • Life and disability insurance.
