POSITION SUMMARY
The Labourer will perform basic tasks involving physical labour in assembly yards and at transmission construction projects. They may clean and prepare sites, dig and back-fill trenches, pull and place underground and overhead cables, clean up rubble and debris, and remove potentially hazardous waste materials. Labourers will position, join, align, and secure structural components, organize and install bolts on tower structures, and assist other craft and crew members as directed. The role may also involve operating small equipment and hand tools, spotting for vehicles and equipment, and supporting site setup and cleanup. This position requires a commitment to travel to various projects as required.

Field Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Adhering to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations

- Maintaining order and organization in assembly yards and construction sites
- Organizing and sorting bolts
- Attaching bolts to tower structures and threading nuts to bolts
- Digging and back-filling trenches
- Pulling and placing underground and overhead cables
- Carrying and moving tower components, materials, and equipment as required
- Operating small equipment and hand tools
- Spotting for vehicles and equipment
- Removing trash, rubble, debris, and potentially dangerous materials from construction sites
- Following instructions and adhering to safe work practices
- Recognizing safety hazards and contributing to the implementation of appropriate controls
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Assisting craft and crew members with work as directed
- Working effectively with team members to complete work safely, efficiently, and within project deadlines
- Developing skills through varied and challenging tasks
- Working safely and contributing to safety improvement initiatives
- Performing additional tasks and duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma
- General knowledge of the principles involved in construction operations, maintenance methods, and procedures
Skills & Abilities
- Work safely and ability to recognize safety hazards and implement the hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards on site
- Strong listening, problem-solving, and time-management skills with the ability to meet various deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to follow instructions and safely perform assigned tasks
- Able and willing to travel and work frequent overtime and weekend hours to accommodate project schedules and/or business needs
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, including heavy lifting
- Valid driver's license with a clean/acceptable driver's abstract; Class 1A license highly preferred
Additional Details
This position requires candidates to:
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per site/project requirements
- Travel to various site(s) projects as per project or business needs
The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.
This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.
Base Pay Range
$25.50 - $25.50 CAD
