Original job description
Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is a leading utility infrastructure contractor helping power communities across Canada and the United States. Built on family roots, we value safety, hard work, and getting the job done right for our clients. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to build your skills and grow your career.
Role Details
- Location: Candidates must be based within the Greater Toronto Area, Chatham, or Welland region.
- Initial work arrangement: Remote, supporting the project’s Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase before construction begins, with occasional site visits for training and coordination with field crews.
- Hours: A base schedule of 40 hours per week during ECI, with overtime as required. Overtime is not guaranteed.
- Transition to construction: The role is expected to transition to on-site construction support when the project moves into Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) execution. Timing will depend on the project schedule.
- Travel: Occasional site travel during ECI, followed by regular travel to project sites across Ontario during construction.
The Project Coordinator supports projects within the Major Projects division, initially providing planning and project coordination support during ECI, with an expected transition to field execution during EPC construction. Projects include high-voltage transmission lines, utility infrastructure, associated civil works, and multidisciplinary EPC projects.
This opportunity suits someone with field coordination experience who is comfortable supporting preconstruction planning before moving into on-site construction coordination. During construction, you will coordinate daily activities, track progress, and connect field teams with the information and resources needed to keep construction moving.
Key Elements of the Role
- During ECI, the focus will be on planning, project coordination, and preparation for construction. As the project moves into construction, responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate daily construction activities between crews, subcontractors, site supervision, and project management, aligning field work with schedules and execution plans.
- Monitor field progress, materials, equipment, and work sequencing, identifying and helping resolve issues that could affect construction delivery.
- Coordinate requests for information, submittals, drawing revisions, and document control so field teams have current information for construction.
- Assist with project mobilization, logistics, site readiness, and material coordination, and track deliverables against scope, schedule, and client requirements.
- Support look-ahead planning, schedule updates, and progress reporting. Track installed quantities and productivity, providing accurate field information for forecasting, cost tracking, and change management.
- Support project Health, Safety & Environment requirements and participate in site inspections, safety meetings, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Assist with quality documentation, inspections, deficiency tracking, and closeout activities to support completion in accordance with project requirements.
- Two to five years of field-based coordination experience supporting heavy civil, utility, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Experience working directly with construction crews, subcontractors, and site supervision on active construction sites.
- Experience supporting high-voltage transmission construction, utility infrastructure, civil infrastructure, or electrical EPC projects. Transmission line, substation, or utility infrastructure experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management software is preferred.
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control processes, document control, and construction turnover documentation is preferred.
- A strong understanding of utility construction sequencing, field coordination, and contractor management is preferred.
Base Pay Range: $30 CAD - $40 CAD
