Overview

Job Description

The Principal Program Manager serves as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the Data & Analytics organization. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities where data can improve business outcomes, translating operational and strategic needs into actionable initiatives, and driving successful delivery of analytics products and data solutions.

The position combines program leadership, product management, stakeholder engagement, agile delivery management, business analysis, and data quality oversight. Success in the role requires balancing executive priorities, facilitating cross-functional alignment, managing delivery processes, and ensuring analytics solutions provide measurable business value.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership

Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and Data & Analytics teams.
Partner with operational, financial, clinical, and executive leaders to identify opportunities for data-driven decision making.
Translate business objectives into prioritized analytics initiatives and product roadmaps.
Facilitate discussions that align stakeholder expectations, priorities, dependencies, and resource constraints.

Program & Portfolio Leadership

Lead large-scale, cross-functional analytics and data initiatives from concept through delivery.
Manage delivery across multiple concurrent programs and stakeholder groups.
Identify risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and mitigation strategies.
Ensure business objectives, timelines, and project outcomes remain aligned throughout execution.

Product & Requirements Management

Facilitate discovery sessions and requirements gathering workshops.
Convert complex business problems into epics, features, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria.
Maintain and prioritize product backlogs.
Assist in developing product roadmaps and long-term strategic plans for analytics solutions.

Agile Delivery Leadership

Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, and release planning activities.
Ensure development teams have clear and actionable requirements.
Coordinate work across analysts, engineers, developers, and business stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement of delivery processes and team operating models.

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

Oversee testing and validation of analytics products and reporting solutions.
Ensure data integrity, source-to-report accuracy, and stakeholder confidence in delivered insights.
Participate in functional testing, user acceptance testing, and validation activities when necessary.
Collaborate with technical teams to resolve data quality issues and reporting discrepancies.

Stakeholder Communication & Change Management

Maintain consistent communication with business leaders regarding roadmap priorities, delivery status, risks, and outcomes.
Coordinate training, adoption, and organizational change activities.
Document business decisions, requirements, assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
Foster trust through transparency, responsiveness, and reliable execution.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

Provide guidance to analysts, product owners, business analysts, and project team members.
Foster collaboration across distributed and cross-functional teams.
Promote agile best practices and a culture of continuous improvement.
Support professional development and knowledge sharing within the organization.

Qualifications

Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate operational, financial, clinical, and executive needs into prioritized analytics initiatives
Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive communication skills, with sound business process analysis and organizational influence
Conceptual understanding of data engineering principles like data warehousing, data integrations, cloud environments, data privacy, security, and compliance
Expert understanding of Agile methodologies and ways of working, including backlog management, requirements elicitation, and product lifecycle management
Experience collaborating with operations teams, data analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders in the creation and maintenance of enterprise-scale data programs
Expert working knowledge of software development tracking, collaboration, and road mapping software like Jira, Confluence, Lucid, Miro, etc.
Experience leveraging AI and LLM tooling to automate and enhance team operations and delivery
Strong risk, dependency, and change management skills, with the ability to remain highly organized across multiple and concurrent activities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Have

Experience writing code in SQL, Python, or similar languages
Experience running data programs on Azure data solutions (Fabric, Databricks, etc.)
Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
Subject matter data expertise in the finance or healthcare industry
