About the Employer
Foreseeson Technology Inc. is a multifaceted, award-winning technology innovator providing electronic manufacturing, IT security distribution, electric vehicle charging equipment, and Intelligent software platforms for EV Charger and Energy Management System. Foreseeson has experienced over 25 years of continuous growth through innovation and we are also known for pioneering green technology to lower our carbon footprint through electric vehicle charging partnerships with municipalities and corporations.
About the Project
Foreseeson Technology Inc. is developing a modular Energy Storage System (ESS) using high-voltage battery packs. The system combines battery management, power conversion, embedded control, charging and discharging coordination, and local and cloud-connected monitoring.
The project includes the evaluation and integration of power conversion equipment, with an emphasis on safe operation, independent battery control, efficient energy flow, modularity, and future product certification.
Foreseeson is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical architecture, hardware design, system integration, and engineering validation throughout the development of this next-generation energy storage platform.
Core accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of the ESS, including integration of batteries, battery management, DC-DC converters, system controller, charger and power distribution modules, inverter, and monitoring interfaces.
- Develop and maintain electrical system block diagrams, schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and interface-control documentation.
- Define high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical architectures, grounding and bonding arrangements, isolation requirements, protection coordination, and control interfaces.
- Develop scalable electrical architectures for integrating m battery multiple acks and supporting future system expansion.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces between batteries, power converters, charging equipment, the inverter, and the system controller.
Electrical Hardware and PCB Development
- Design, review, and validate electronic circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs) for battery monitoring, system control, signal conditioning, protection, and communications.
- Use Altium Designer, or equivalent PCB design tools to develop schematics, layouts, bills of materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation.
- Review component selection, electrical ratings, derating, thermal performance, electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility, and signal integrity.
- Coordinate with embedded firmware and power electronics engineers to ensure hardware interfaces meet functional and performance requirements.
- Establish hardware design reviews, revision control, design verification, and engineering change management practices.
Battery Management and System Control
- Define electrical and functional interfaces between individual battery controllers, DC-DC converters, and the central system controller.
- Support the integration of battery voltage, current, temperature, state-of-charge (SOC), and state-of-health (SOH) monitoring.
- Develop and verify electrical requirements for battery protection, contactor control, pre-charge circuits, fault handling, and emergency shutdown.
- Support the implementation of controlled charging and discharging strategies for multiple second-life battery packs.
Power Conversion and AC Distribution
- Lead system-level electrical integration of battery-level DC-DC converters, charging and power distribution modules, and the power inverter.
- Define requirements for AC input, three-phase 208 VAC output, and connections to external loads and compatible equipment.
- Work with the Power Electronics Engineer to verify voltage and current compatibility, power flow, isolation, protection, and system operating limits.
- Support the evaluation of bidirectional power conversion and energy-flow control architectures.
Safety, Testing, and Product Development
- Identify electrical design risks and support design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA), risk assessments, and design reviews.
- Develop electrical verification plans and oversee prototype testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
- Apply relevant electrical safety, battery system, power conversion, and certification requirements throughout development.
- Support preparation for system-level certification and compliance assessments, including applicable CSA, UL, and utility-interconnection requirements.
- Collaborate on enclosure integration, cable routing, thermal management interfaces, serviceability, and manufacturability.
- Produce clear technical documentation, test reports, design specifications, and engineering handover packages.
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineers and technologists, coordinate priorities, and mentor team members.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in electrical or electronics engineering.
- Proficiency in PCB design and electronic circuit development using Altium Designer, or equivalent tools.
- Experience designing, developing, or integrating electrical products and systems, preferably involving safety-critical or safety-relevant applications.
- Strong knowledge of microelectronics, circuit design principles, electrical interfaces, and hardware verification.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, hardware interfaces, and firmware debugging tools.
- Experience with electrical CAD and documentation tools, such as SolidWorks Electrical, and the ability to coordinate with mechanical CAD teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for engineering analysis and data management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing PCBs or electrical systems for power electronics, energy storage systems, battery management, or battery charging.
- Experience with high-voltage battery systems, contactors, pre-charge circuits, isolation monitoring, and electrical protection.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, EMI/EMC mitigation, grounding, and PCB layout practices.
- Experience with hardware revision control, configuration management, and engineering change processes.
- Experience with DFMEA, design verification, safety assessments, or product certification preparation.
- Previous experience leading design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, or coordinating multidisciplinary development activities.
- Familiarity with CSA/UL requirements for energy storage systems and power conversion equipment.
