Original job description

Your new company

You will be working for an established, privately owned real estate investment and property management company with a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties across Western Canada. With a collaborative team and continued growth plans, they are now looking for an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to join their Vancouver office and oversee the company's human resources function.

Your new role

Reporting directly to the Owner, you will be responsible for managing the full HR function for approximately 60 employees across British Columbia and Alberta. This is a standalone role where you will oversee day-to-day HR operations, including full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, and HR policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for managing multiple payroll groups, including commission and bonus payments, while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies. You will also work closely with senior leadership, providing guidance on employee matters, supporting workplace initiatives, and helping to foster a positive and collaborative company culture.

What you'll need to succeed

You will bring 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally within a small to mid-sized organization where you've independently managed a broad range of HR responsibilities. Strong hands-on payroll experience and familiarity with ADP are required, along with a solid understanding of employment standards, employee relations, recruitment, and benefits administration.

You must be approachable, confident, and comfortable working directly with senior leadership while building strong relationships across the organization. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on, can navigate challenging conversations with professionalism, and brings sound judgment and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Experience within real estate or property management, exposure to Yardi or Rippling, and additional HR or payroll certifications would be considered assets.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a competitive base salary of $80,000–$90,000, employer-paid benefits, 3 weeks of vacation, 5 paid sick days, and a Christmas holiday shutdown. Additional perks include free downtown parking, a dog-friendly office, and support for professional development and accreditation.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days in the office following probation, with working hours of 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, building meaningful relationships, and making a direct impact within a growing organization, with potential for further career progression.
