Original job description

About the job

Foresight Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established, privately held Calgary commercial real estate owner and manager to find an Operations Manager for its downtown office portfolio. The organization owns and operates a collection of high-quality office assets and is known for a hands-on, long-term approach to its buildings and its people.

This is not a desk-bound facilities role or a single-building position. It’s a leadership seat with ownership of how a portfolio performs, in a company small enough that your decisions are seen and felt.

What you’ll be responsible for

Leading building operations across a multi-property office portfolio, including mechanical, electrical, life safety and building automation systems
Managing, mentoring and developing a team of building operators and operations staff
Preparing and managing operating and capital budgets, and planning and delivering capital projects
Overseeing preventive maintenance programs, equipment lifecycle planning and asset condition reporting
Sourcing, negotiating and managing vendor and service contracts
Driving energy management, sustainability and certification initiatives (e.g. BOMA BEST)
Working closely with property management, leasing and ownership to support tenant satisfaction and retention
Ensuring compliance with health and safety, codes, and regulatory requirements
Taking part in after-hours and emergency response as needed

What we’re looking for

7+ years of experience in commercial building operations, with at least 3 years leading a team
A Power Engineering certificate (4th Class or higher) [required / preferred]
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, central plant, BAS and life safety systems in high-rise office buildings
Proven experience with operating and capital budgets, project delivery and vendor management
A collaborative leader who can be strategic with ownership while staying credible on the plant floor
BOMA, FMA, RPA or similar designations considered an asset

What makes this opportunity particularly interesting

This role offers the scope of a portfolio leadership position without the layers of a national landlord. You’ll have a direct line to decision-makers, real influence over how the buildings are run and invested in, and the chance to shape a team that values stability and long-term commitment. For an experienced operator ready to step into, or deepen, a true management role, this is a rare opening in downtown Calgary.

Interested? All enquiries are handled in strict confidence. Apply directly to this job posting.

Requirements

Requires at least 7 years of commercial building operations experience, including 3 or more years leading a team, and a Power Engineering certificate at 4th Class or higher.
