Entry-Level Woodworking CNC Operator

Build Your Skills. Create Quality Products. Grow Your Career.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Entry-Level Woodworking CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will learn to set up, operate, and maintain CNC routers and machinery to fabricate high-quality wooden fixtures.

This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, a passion for woodworking, and a desire to build a career in modern manufacturing. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training covering machine operation, tooling strategies, and basic software navigation.

You’ll play an important role in producing high-quality wood components while developing valuable technical skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Load pre-programmed G-code files, set machine offsets, and operate CNC routers.
  • Material Setup: Select and secure MDF to the machine bed using vacuum work holding methods.
  • Tooling Management: Install appropriate CNC router bits (e.g., compression spirals, ball nose, V-carve) into collets and verify tool lengths.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts against blueprints, templates, or specifications using measuring tools like calipers and tape measures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Post-Processing: Perform basic finishing tasks on machined parts, including deburring, manual sanding, and edge banding.
  • Routine Maintenance: Clean and lubricate machines daily, clear wood chips and sawdust, and monitor vacuum and fluid levels.
  • Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all shop safety protocols, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Skills

We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn, takes pride in their work, and is committed to producing quality results.

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Technical or vocational coursework in woodworking or machining is a plus.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of manufacturing or shop experience. Prior exposure to manual woodworking tools or basic shop math is highly valued.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to read work orders, or digital blueprints.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic comfort using computers to navigate files and interface with machine software.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision-oriented mindset required to spot cutting errors or material defects before they ruin a run.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lean over machinery for the duration of an 8-to-10 hour shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull wood panels or raw materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
  • Comfortable working in a standard manufacturing environment that involves dust, noise, and mechanical equipment.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, in-person position in a manufacturing facility.
  • Fast-paced, high-volume production environment where safety, quality, and efficiency matter.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts based on operational requirements.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
