Role Description The Wood CNC Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC machinery for wood components used in custom fixtures and millwork. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting technical drawings and CAD files, creating CNC programs, selecting appropriate tooling, and verifying that parts meet quality and safety standards. The role involves collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate, efficient manufacturing and to resolve any programming or machining issues. The Wood CNC Programmer will also maintain CNC equipment, document production processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Canada.
Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, B-Solid and Biesseworks software
- Proficiency in CNC programming for woodworking, including creating, modifying, and troubleshooting programs for multi-axis CNC machines.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files related to millwork and fixture manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machine setup, tooling selection, workholding, and optimization of feeds and speeds for wood materials.
- Knowledge of woodworking processes, materials, and finishing techniques commonly used in custom millwork and fixture production.
- Attention to detail and quality, including experience with measurement tools and inspection practices to ensure precise tolerances.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with engineering, production, and project management teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing environment, including safe machine operation and material handling.
- Relevant technical training or certification in CNC programming, woodworking, or manufacturing technology; experience in custom millwork or fixtures is an asset.
