Fortinet's Canada Human Resources team is looking for an Associate HR Business Partner to help us build the next generation of HR business partnering. This role combines core HR partnership with data, AI, process improvement and automation to help leaders make better people decisions and help HR operate more effectively.

This role is designed for an HR professional who has developed strong HR fundamentals and wants to become a modern, data-driven business partner. You will support leaders and employees across an assigned client group while also using AI, analytics, automation and process improvement to help HR operate more effectively and make better decisions.

We are looking for someone who is curious about how work can be done differently. You should be comfortable coaching a manager on a people issue, analyzing workforce data to identify a trend, and looking at a manual HR process and asking: Can we simplify, automate or eliminate this?

In this role, success isn't measured by how many HR processes you administer. It is measured by whether you become a trusted partner to the business, generate useful insights from people data, improve how HR work gets done, and continuously find ways to make HR simpler, faster, smarter and more scalable.

This is an opportunity to develop broad HRBP capabilities while helping shape how Fortinet's HR function works in the future.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Business

· Serve as a day-to-day HR partner for an assigned client group, supporting managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.

· Coach managers on performance management, employee relations, talent decisions and team effectiveness, escalating complex matters when appropriate.

· Develop an understanding of the business, its talent needs and organizational priorities, and use that context to provide practical HR recommendations.

· Support talent reviews, compensation cycles, organizational changes, workforce planning and other key people processes.

· Partner across Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HR Operations, HRIS and other HR teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Turn Data into Decisions

· Analyze workforce data such as hiring, attrition, performance, compensation, mobility and organizational trends to identify insights and opportunities.

· Go beyond reporting what happened by helping determine why it happened, what it means, and what action the business should consider.

· Use both quantitative data and employee/manager feedback to identify patterns and emerging issues.

Use AI to Improve HR

· Partner with engineering and the HRIS team to use generative AI and other AI-enabled tools to accelerate research, analysis, communications, employee support and HR decision-making.

· Experiment with AI-enabled approaches to common HR activities while applying appropriate judgment, confidentiality and human oversight.

· Help identify practical AI use cases within HR and test new approaches that improve quality, speed or employee experience.

· Share effective AI practices with HR colleagues and help increase AI fluency across the team.

Simplify and Automate

· Identify repetitive, manual or inefficient HR processes and challenge whether there is a better way to accomplish the same outcome.

· Map existing processes, identify unnecessary steps and recommend opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate or eliminate work.

· Partner with HR Operations, HRIS and internal AI/technology resources to translate HR problems into automation or technology opportunities.

· Help measure whether new processes and tools actually improve efficiency, quality and employee or manager experience.

Requirements

· 2–4 years of experience in HR, ideally including HR generalist, employee relations, HR operations or business-partnering experience.

· Strong HR fundamentals and working knowledge of British Columbia employment practices.

· Curiosity about the business and an interest in understanding how people decisions affect organizational performance.

· Strong analytical skills and comfort working with workforce data; advanced Excel skills are highly valued.

· Demonstrated use of generative AI or other AI-enabled tools to improve how you work.

· A builder mindset: you naturally question inefficient processes and look for simpler, more scalable ways of working.

· Ability to take a business or HR problem, break it down, analyze available information and recommend a practical solution.

· Comfort learning new technology and experimenting with unfamiliar tools.

· Experience with an HRIS such as Oracle HCM preferred.

· Experience with data visualization, workflow automation or low-code/no-code tools is an advantage but not required.

· Experience in technology or another fast-moving environment preferred.

· Strong judgment, communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive employee matters.

· High level of personal integrity.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $70,900 - $86,700 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
