FortisAlberta is looking for an organized and customer-focused Damage Prevention Assistant to support the safe and timely processing of utility locate requests.
In this role, you will review Utility Safety Partners locate tickets, assess FortisAlberta mapping information, and determine whether requests require a field locate or can be cleared internally. You will work closely with the Damage Prevention team, locate contractors, customers, and other external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and sound judgment are important.

Job Description:
- Review and interpret locate tickets and FortisAlberta maps to determine whether a field locate is required or the request can be cleared internally.
- Monitor and prioritize emergency locate requests.
- Compile, track, and update damage-related information within required timelines to support accurate cost recovery and billing.
- Run daily and monthly reports and accurately enter information into various systems.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide timely updates to customers, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal departments, Utility Safety Partners, locate contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain Damage Tracking, Multi-Analysis, and other operational spreadsheets and records.
- Review existing policies, procedures, and practices and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement approved process and practice improvements.
- Complete administrative duties, special projects, and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma plus three (3) years of experience in an administrative role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work with systems such as SAP, ESRI Maps, AM/FM, and other reporting tools.
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, GIS technologies, and mapping tools, with the ability to interpret technical information and apply sound judgment when reviewing locate requests.
- Proven communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A related certificate or diploma and experience in a regulated utility environment are considered assets.
Important:
- Temporary, part-time role for 18 months.
- Variable schedule with shifts varying from 4 – 8 hours per day.
- Based out of our Airdrie Kingsview location.
- This is a unionized role, and the successful applicant will be required to become a union member on hire if they are not one already.
