Canada's Next Generation of Autonomous Golf-Course Mowers
We are not looking for someone to maintain robots. We are looking for someone to build them.
Foxbridge Golf & Country Club is launching an ambitious robotics initiative to develop autonomous mowing equipment specifically designed for the golf industry.
We are starting from the ground up and looking for a talented, entrepreneurial Robotics Engineer to lead the technical development of this project from concept to working prototype.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants to move beyond traditional employment and play a leading role in developing a new Canadian robotics venture.
About the Project
Golf courses depend heavily on labour-intensive mowing operations.
Our vision is to develop intelligent robotic mowing systems that can operate safely, efficiently, and autonomously across golf-course terrain.
Rather than starting with an empty laboratory, Foxbridge provides access to:
- An operating golf course in Ontario.
- Existing commercial golf-course mowing equipment.
- Real-world testing environments, including fairways, slopes, and varying terrain.
- Golf-course maintenance professionals and operational expertise.
- An opportunity to develop technology with commercial applications across Canada and North America.
Our initial objective is to transform conventional golf-course mowing equipment into an autonomous robotic platform.
The long-term vision is to develop a scalable product for the golf and professional turf-maintenance industries.
Your Role – Lead the Development
As our Founding Robotics Engineer, you will take technical ownership of the project from its earliest stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the overall engineering architecture for an autonomous golf-course mower.
- Evaluate existing commercial mowing equipment for robotic conversion.
- Design and integrate mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software control systems.
- Develop autonomous navigation using GPS/GNSS/RTK, sensors, and computer vision.
- Integrate steering, braking, motor control, obstacle detection, and emergency safety systems.
- Build and test the first functional robotic mower prototype.
- Conduct real-world testing on the Foxbridge golf course.
- Identify technical challenges and continuously improve the prototype.
- Help establish the engineering roadmap, development milestones, and technical requirements.
- Assist in recruiting and leading additional engineers as the project progresses.
Who We Are Looking For
- We are seeking an engineer who combines technical expertise, hands-on development experience, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Most importantly, we want someone who can BUILD - not just design.
You do not need expertise in every discipline, but you must understand how to bring the necessary technologies and engineering specialists together.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
You may be the ideal candidate if:
- You have always wanted to develop your own robotics product.
- You enjoy building machines rather than simply maintaining existing technology.
- You are comfortable working independently and making engineering decisions.
- You can turn technical concepts into functional prototypes.
- You enjoy working with mechanical systems, electronics, software, and automation.
- You are interested in leading an engineering team.
- You have an entrepreneurial mindset and want to help create something commercially valuable.
Why Join Foxbridge?
This is not a conventional engineering position.
You will have the opportunity to:
✅ Lead a robotics project from Day One.
✅ Build and test technology in a real golf-course environment.
✅ Work directly with commercial turf-maintenance machinery.
✅ Influence the product architecture and development strategy.
✅ Help establish a new Canadian robotics initiative.
✅ Potentially grow into a senior technical leadership role as the venture develops.
We believe Canada has an opportunity to develop innovative robotics solutions for the North American turf-maintenance industry.
How to Apply
We are particularly interested in candidates who have previously built autonomous machines, robotics prototypes, or complex mechatronic systems.
