Original job description

Who We Are

The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley, close to nature and city, with many opportunities for outdoor and leisure activities. We acknowledge that we provide our services on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Stó:lō and Nlaka’pamux peoples. We are a community-based organization providing innovative, strength based, family centered services to children and youth with support needs, and their families. Our work focuses on child development – supporting, advocating, and empowering children and families. Services are delivered in a culture of excellence, diversity, and respect, with a focus on positive outcomes for each child, their families, our staff, and our community. We believe in “Helping Kids Shine”.

We are dedicated to strengthening the well-being, growth and participation of children, youth and their families through innovative evidence-based child development services.

The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre is a flexible, supportive employer that invests in the mental health, wellbeing, and professional development of their staff. FVCDC envisions a diverse, inclusive workforce that reflects our communities. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the B.C. Human Rights Code.

You'll engage directly with infants and children, implementing tailored programs, and empower caregivers and the community through training initiatives. This multifaceted approach creates a developmental environment that addresses individual needs while extending a positive impact to the broader community. If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, caregivers and communities, bring your expertise to our team and contribute to maximizing every child’s potential.

Provide appropriate support required for the full participation and successful inclusion of children in family and community life.
Facilitate the development and implementation of individual plans for children that reflect the choices and priorities identified by their families.
Assist families with the management and coordination of services for their child and facilitate transitions occurring for those involved. Support families in the decision making process regarding the child’s education, social or health services.
Act as primary service provider by supporting the family to identify priorities and help set realistic goals.
Participate as a member of an integrated early intervention team by working collaboratively with other professionals to determine the best array and intensity of services based on the stated goal of the family or caregiver.
Create and maintain documentation and/or reports. Communicate report information to families. Follow appropriate guidelines for report writing and therapy notes and confidentiality as per the FVCDC Policy and Procedure manual.
Conduct groups, training and information sessions, and workshops to educate community, parents and professionals when deemed appropriate.
Actively participate in department, team and staff meetings.
