Manager, Capacity and Performance

Works with business units to obtain capacity forecasts and planning data; reviews capacity reports and evaluates capacity plans and associated opportunities for the Capacity Director/Coordinator; creates and adapts capacity assessment approaches.

Experience:

5+ yrs z/OS mainframe environment; capacity planning, performance, or operations; mission-critical environments (public sector or large enterprises).

Key technical skills: z/OS (architecture, LPAR, PR/SM); SMF/RMF data analysis; WLM; advanced concepts - CPU / MSU / R4HA, I/O, memory, paging; tools - MXG / Excel / Power BI, OMEGAMON or equivalent.

Analytical / business acumen: trend analysis and capacity forecasting; rapid identification of capacity constraints; scenario modeling; understanding of IBM software costs (MSU-based) and cost vs. performance optimization; contribution to investment decisions.

Education / differentiators:

Computer science/systems or equivalent; mainframe training (significant asset); z15/z16; zIIP optimization/offloading; advanced tools (zBNA, IntelliMagic, BMC AMI OPS); automation/scripting (REXX, Python).

Responsibilities
