Summary
This role within the Infrastructure Engineering functional area focuses on internal tooling, documentation, and measurement capability that makes other teams more productive. This role helps build prototypes and tests for the qualification of electrical, mechanical, optical, and software systems. This technologist translates requirements into verifiable tests, aiding the development and qualification of G2V products. This role also helps build and maintain the testing infrastructure - test jigs, fixtures, measurement setups, and QC processes - that validates engineering work. This role performs or coordinates hands-on technical work including prototypes, proofs of concept, and test execution. This role bolsters G2V’s product testing, ensures a rigorous and smooth engineering handoff between functional units, and is essential for validating quality workmanship for G2V’s products.

The Infrastructure Engineering functional area focuses on internal tooling, documentation, and measurement capability that makes other teams more productive. This includes detectors, calibration systems, Quality Control (QC) jigs, metrology, and the physics foundations that underpin G2V’s product quality. Infrastructure Engineering encompasses a wide variety of engineering disciplines at G2V including electronics, firmware, mechanical, software, optics, and physics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Communication & Handoffs: Work closely with internal teams - and occasionally outside vendors - to keep testing and prototype work moving. Prepare clear handoff packages (test data, documentation, design files, status) so the next person can pick up the work without confusion. Communicate progress, blockers, and results honestly and early. Support vendor coordination by preparing accurate specifications and tracking deliverables against schedule. Bring the same clarity to AI-assisted work: give clear instructions, then review and validate the output before passing it on.
- Prototype Building: Build, wire, and assemble prototypes, test fixtures, and measurement setups from engineering designs (schematics, CAD, BOMs). Fabricate and iterate on jigs and fixtures using shop tools, soldering, and basic machining or 3D printing. Bring up and debug hardware - identify why a build doesn't work and drive it to a working state. Keep prototypes documented and version-controlled so builds are reproducible and handoffs are clean.
- Engineering Testing & Data Collection: Execute test protocols and measurement procedures across all development phases, collecting accurate, well-organized data against defined pass/fail criteria. Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems. Record and document results clearly enough that others can interpret and reproduce them. Flag anomalies, out-of-spec results, and measurement issues early. Support test plan development by giving feedback on what's practical to measure at the bench. Contribute to gate reviews by ensuring test data and documentation are complete and accurate so the business can make informed go/no-go decisions.
- Continuous Learning: Actively build new skills in tools, methods, and domain knowledge relevant to product development. Evaluate, adopt, and integrate new capabilities as they emerge (including AI tools and outsourcing options). Contribute to process improvements. Mentor less experienced team members. Practice version-controlled collaboration (git workflows, pull requests, releases).
Target Skills & Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A diploma or certificate in an engineering technology, applied science, or technical trade program (e.g., electronics, mechanical, instrumentation) - or an equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience. A bachelor's degree is welcome but not required.
- Hands-on aptitude with building, wiring, and assembling PCBs, prototypes, and test setups - or a clear track record of picking up practical skills quickly
- Comfort operating common bench tools and instrumentation (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering, hand tools, calipers)
- A careful, methodical approach to measurement and data collection - the instinct to notice when a result looks off and to document work so others can reproduce it
- Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient for clear documentation, status updates, and honest coordination with teammates
- Basic technical grounding in at least one discipline (electrical, mechanical, optical, or software) and curiosity to learn across the others
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to figure things out at the bench when instructions run out
**This role requires international travel to the US, up to 2 trips per year
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with data acquisition tools or basic scripting (e.g., Python) for collecting and organizing test data
- Exposure to structured testing, QC processes, or requirements traceability
- Proficiency in git-based workflows (branches, PRs, releases)
- Cross-disciplinary literacy beyond a primary specialty (e.g., an electronics tech with mechanical or optics exposure)
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows
- CAD, 3D printing, or basic machining experience
- ASET registration: P.Tech. (Professional Technologist) or C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist), or eligible and actively working toward registration
