Role Description

GardaWorld is seeking motivated, professional, and community-minded Security Officers to join our team in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, as part of an exciting six-month pilot program focused on mobile patrol and community safety.

This is an on-site position involving foot and vehicle patrols of designated downtown areas and participating properties. Security Officers will maintain a visible and professional presence, help deter suspicious activity, monitor safety and security concerns, and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for local businesses, residents, visitors, and community members.

Responsibilities include conducting scheduled and unscheduled patrols, checking doors, gates, access points, and designated locations, responding to alarms and incidents, identifying potential hazards, and preparing accurate incident reports and patrol logs. Officers will also communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, local law enforcement, emergency services, and other relevant partners when required.

A key focus of this role is respectful communication, conflict de-escalation, voluntary compliance, and positive community engagement. Successful candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and the ability to remain calm when responding to challenging situations.

Position Details

• Location: Charlottetown, PEI
• Workplace Type: On-site
• Program Duration: Six-month pilot program
• Training and Probation Pay: $22.00 per hour
• Pay After Successful Completion of Training and Probation: $23.00 per hour for the remainder of the pilot program

The program offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in mobile patrol and community safety, with the possibility of advancement or transition into a larger program following the initial six-month period.

Qualifications

• Valid Prince Edward Island Security Guard Licence, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Valid driver's licence and a satisfactory driving record, as required for the position.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain the required certification.
• Previous experience in security, mobile patrol, law enforcement, military, customer service, or community safety is considered an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and accurate incident reports.
• Excellent observation, situational awareness, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and respectful in challenging situations and use effective conflict de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following established procedures and post orders.
• Ability to conduct foot patrols, walk and stand for extended periods, drive safely, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work assigned shifts, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliability, punctuality, integrity, and a commitment to confidentiality and workplace safety.
• Ability to successfully complete the required background screening and other employment requirements.
