Role Description The Lead Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain data platforms that support generative AI and analytics solutions for client engagements. This contract role involves leading the architecture and implementation of data pipelines, collaborating with data scientists and consultants to define data requirements, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing robust ETL processes, optimizing data models and warehousing solutions, performing data validation and troubleshooting, and documenting technical designs and standards. The position is hybrid, based in Toronto, ON, with a combination of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering skills, including designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in databricks.
- Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools for integrating data from multiple sources.
- Applied data analytics skills, including querying, profiling, and interpreting data to support business and AI use cases.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data stack tools (e.g., Spark, dbt, Kafka, Airflow) is highly beneficial.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).
- Proven ability to lead technical projects, mentor team members, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
