Role: AI Bot Developer / Conversational AI Engineer

Location: Toronto ON (hybrid)

We are seeking a skilled AI Bot Developer / Conversational AI Engineer with experience in designing, developing, and deploying intelligent AI-powered chatbot solutions. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in leveraging AI/ML and Generative AI platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), along with strong knowledge of Prompt Engineering, Conversational AI frameworks, and chatbot development. The role requires close collaboration with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and business-focused AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

AI Bot Development

• Design, develop, test, and deploy AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants using AWS, Google Cloud, or similar AI platforms.
• Build conversational workflows and automate business processes using Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Develop and optimize chatbot integrations with enterprise applications, APIs, and backend systems.

Prompt Engineering & AI Optimization

• Create, refine, and optimize prompts to improve chatbot accuracy, relevance, and user experience.
• Evaluate AI model responses and continuously enhance conversation flows and business outcomes.
• Implement best practices for prompt engineering, model tuning, and response validation.

Framework & Platform Expertise

• Work with AI development frameworks and cloud-native AI services on AWS or GCP.
• Independently develop and enhance AI solutions leveraging the Happy Robot Framework (Desirable).
• Support AI model deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, Architects, and Business Stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver AI-driven solutions.
• Participate in design discussions, solution reviews, and development planning activities.
• Translate business requirements into scalable AI use cases and technical implementations.

Testing, Support & Documentation

• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of chatbot solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational runbooks.
• Support production deployments and continuous improvements of AI applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience in software development, automation, or AI solution development.
• Hands-on experience building AI Bots, Virtual Assistants, or Conversational AI solutions.
• Experience with AWS AI services, Amazon Bedrock, Lex, SageMaker, or Google Cloud AI/Vertex AI platforms.
• Good understanding of Prompt Engineering, LLMs, Generative AI, and NLP concepts.
• Ability to independently design and develop chatbot use cases and workflows.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with APIs, databases, and enterprise applications.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Open to working in a hybrid work environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Happy Robot Framework.
• Knowledge of Python, REST APIs, and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with AI testing, evaluation, guardrails, and responsible AI practices.
• Exposure to RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks.
