Position Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, Change Enablement and Talent Strategy, the Manager, Talent, is a subject matter expert who is responsible for working in partnership across HR, Talent, and the George Brown Polytechnic (GBP) community to deliver, refine, and continuously improve priority talent programs, processes, and practices that support a positive employee experience and enable GBP to achieve its strategic objectives. The incumbent will support GBP in becoming a high performing organization through a focus on integrated talent management practices and processes.

For this assignment, the Manager, Talent Management will be responsible for partnering across the People & Culture (P&C) team (i.e., HR Consulting and Employee Experience, Total Rewards, Employee Learning & Development, Talent Solutions/Technology) and additional stakeholders across multiple levels of the Polytechnic to develop, implement and monitor the MyPath performance program, employee engagement listening sessions, associated communications, action tracking, reporting, and related improvement initiatives as part of the overall P&C strategy to simplify, automate, and drive efficiencies for leaders, employees, and the department.

Key Responsibilities

Manages the development, design and implementation of program delivery processes, tools, templates, and related services.
Leverages talent management trends, industry best practices, and a continuous improvement mindset to ensure programs, processes, technologies, and practices are optimized, streamlined, current, and aligned with organizational priorities and employer branding objectives.
Partners with internal stakeholders and external vendors to design, implement, evaluate, and continuously refine performance management, goal setting, and career development programs that support employee growth, engagement, and organizational alignment.
Leads the delivery of our annual employee engagement listening sessions process, including communications and overall execution. Partners with senior leadership to ensure themes, insights, and actions are incorporated into relevant plans and priorities as well as with the HR Consulting & Employee Experience team to engage leaders across the Polytechnic in action planning based on listening session feedback.
Champions and embeds our Polytechnic’s anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and equity philosophy and practice in all programs and processes within scope, in support of a diverse and inclusive culture and workforce.
Develops and sustains strong, collaborative partnerships with project stakeholder groups at multiple levels of the Polytechnic, especially Senior HR Consultants, as well as external vendors to proactively identify, resolve and coordinate efforts to ensure effective and successful program management, delivery and implementation.
Ensures talent management initiatives comply with employment legislation, collective agreements, organizational HR policies, financial protocols, approved budget requirements, and reporting standards of our Polytechnic and other relevant governing bodies.
Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Human Resources, Business or a related field (or Polytechnic degree combined with equivalent depth & breadth of experience) is required.
Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience as a people manager and/or in key areas of human resources or talent management.
Strong project/program management and change management experience related to organizational, and people change initiatives.
Experience with leading the development and implementation of large programs with a direct impact to people across an organization.
Experience in a unionized setting, post-secondary institution or public sector organization is an asset.
Familiarity with the implementation, configuration and sustainment of systems, including reporting and dashboards, as well as embedding system implications in program development and plans. Experience with leveraging system reporting and dashboards.
Demonstrated experience in working across all levels of complex, dynamic organizations including familiarity with senior management teams.

Skills and Attributes
