Original job description

About Giatec Scientific

Giatec Scientific Inc. is a global leader in smart concrete testing technologies, bringing real-time data, AI, and IoT solutions to jobsites worldwide. Our core products – SmartRock®, SmartMix®, and MixPilot® – support the full concrete lifecycle, from mix design and production to placement and performance monitoring, helping teams improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability while reducing concrete’s carbon footprint.

SmartMix (AI-driven concrete mix optimization) and MixPilot (in-transit slump sensing technology) are transforming how ready-mix concrete producers optimize operations, reduce waste, and improve quality. We’re headquartered in Ottawa with a growing North American sales organization.

At Giatec, we value innovation, creativity, agility, and integrity. We’re committed to creating a culture of openness and teamwork in which our employees can thrive and leverage their skills, all while making the world a smarter place to live in.

The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Business Development Executive to join our RMC Solutions team as a hunter and technical discovery expert. This is a sophisticated, relationship-driven role that bridges business development and consultative sales. You’ll take ownership of territory expansion, prospecting ready-mix concrete producers across North America, conducting deep discovery conversations about their operations and technology stack, and building the credible network that drives pipeline and long-term customer success.

This role differs from a typical BDR: you’ll focus on discovery quality and market expertise over activity volume, book your own meetings, conduct qualification and sometimes demos, and only hand off opportunities that are ready for Account Executives to close. You’ll be a source of valuable market insights and thought leadership.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is $80,000 – $90,000.

What You’ll Do

Identify and prospect new target accounts within assigned territories; execute outbound campaigns to open doors with decision-makers
Build strong relationships with technical, operational, and executive stakeholders at ready-mix concrete producers
Conduct structured discovery conversations to deeply understand customer pain points across mix design, batching, dispatch, in-transit monitoring, fleet management, and quality workflows
Assess fit and identify whether Giatec’s products or partner solutions align with customer needs and technology stacks
Book and execute your own discovery/qualification meetings and demos, handing off only when opportunities are qualified and ready
Own high-quality Salesforce documentation at both account and opportunity levels, capturing critical qualification data and insights
Develop and maintain deep expertise on ready-mix operations and Giatec solutions; build credible thought leadership in your market
Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Solutions, and Marketing teams to validate technical feasibility and align on customer insights
Generate monthly market reports and contribute market insights to social, newsletter, and other thought leadership channels

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

2+ years of experience in business development, solution selling, or customer-facing roles in construction tech, software, or concrete production
Strong understanding of ready-mix concrete operations (mix design, batching, dispatch, in-transit monitoring, fleet management) or demonstrated ability to learn technical domains quickly
Proven track record with outbound prospecting and consultative discovery; comfort making cold calls and opening doors
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with technical, operational, and executive audiences
Proficiency with CRM systems, particularly Salesforce, and discipline in maintaining accurate documentation
Self-motivated problem-solver; able to manage complex stakeholder relationships and multiple engagements simultaneously
Comfort with technical products; ability to speak intelligently about solutions and evaluate customer fit
North American availability (remote-friendly, with occasional team collaboration and customer travel)

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience in ready-mix concrete operations or concrete production workflows
Experience with consultative/solutions selling methodologies (MEDDIC, SPIN, value-based selling)
Track record of generating high-quality discovery documentation and insights from customer interactions
Experience with social media, content creation, or thought leadership communications
Appetite to grow into a full sales/account management role (this position can be a stepping stone for high performers)

What Success Looks Like

Building a large, credible network of contacts in the RMC industry and maintaining relationships through consistent engagement
Generating high-quality discovery documentation at both account and opportunity level in Salesforce
Generating a steady stream of well-qualified, ready-to-close opportunities for Account Executives
Developing expert-level knowledge in Concrete Construction, Concrete In-Transit, and Concrete Materials within one year
Contributing valuable market insights through monthly market reports, social posts, newsletters, and other thought leadership channels

Why Join Giatec?

You’ll be part of a team that values innovation, creativity, and integrity. We’re committed to developing people and building a culture of openness and collaboration. You’ll have:

Competitive salary plus performance-based incentives tied to opportunity quality and conversion
Opportunity to own territory expansion and become the market expert for your region
Direct mentorship and close partnership with an experienced sales manager who invests in your growth
Work with cutting-edge AI-powered products solving real problems in the $30B+ concrete construction market
Comprehensive onboarding, product training, and industry certifications to build expertise
Flexible, remote-friendly work environment with a collaborative team culture
Clear growth trajectory: many of our Account Executives started in Business Development Executive roles

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your relevant experience with outbound prospecting, consultative discovery, and business development. Include examples of how you’ve opened doors with new accounts, built strong stakeholder relationships, and generated quality pipeline from scratch. We review applications on a rolling basis.

AI-enabled tools may be used to support parts of the recruitment and screening process.
