Original job description

Position Overview

Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking for an experienced Execution Project Manager to join our growing team. This is a contract position of approximately 8 months with the possibility of renewal. Working across mining, utilities, and heavy industrial projects, you'll take ownership of multidisciplinary engineering projects from initiation through close-out while helping shape how we continue to grow as a company.

This is more than a project management role. It's an opportunity to influence project delivery, strengthen client relationships, mentor project teams, and contribute to the continued growth of a collaborative and entrepreneurial engineering firm. If you're looking for a role where your work has a visible impact, your ideas are valued, and your career can grow alongside the business, we'd love to hear from you.

About Us

Giffen is a Canadian company with offices in Vancouver, BC, and Toronto, ON. that provides fit-for-purpose engineering and project delivery solutions, specializing in the mining, utility, and heavy industrial sectors.

At Giffen, we take pride in our ability to deliver flexible strategies that are tailored to the specific needs of our clients. We value relationships above all else – within our team and with our clients. We hold our team to the highest level of accountability to ensure we provide tailored solutions to successfully execute our clients’ projects.

We believe that open communication is the key to fostering reliable and lasting relationships within our company and those with whom we conduct business.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Execution Project Manager to support the execution, operational readiness, commissioning, and handover of the SX Fire Suppression System Project at a mine site in Northern Saskatchewan, with approximately 60% of the assignment expected to be site-based. The successful candidate must be comfortable coordinating across multiple suppliers and stakeholders and working effectively between the site and home office located in Saskatoon.

Responsibilities include:

Lead and support execution of the SX Fire Suppression System Project through construction, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover.
Coordinate execution activities and facilitate effective communication across mine site, home office, engineering, operations, contractors, vendors, and multiple equipment/supply stakeholders.
Manage project execution priorities, schedules, deliverables, risks, deficiencies, and outstanding actions to maintain project momentum and identify issues early.
Support field execution and resolution of technical, construction, supplier, and interface issues.
Coordinate commissioning planning, testing, inspections, system acceptance, and closeout activities.
Support operational readiness, including procedures, training, documentation, maintenance requirements, spares, and turnover packages.
Ensure project execution aligns with applicable safety, quality, regulatory, engineering, and site requirements.
Coordinate final system turnover and handover to Operations.
Monitor progress against the project schedule and work with the project team to identify constraints, recovery actions, and opportunities to maintain key milestones.

Qualifications + Experience

Minimum 8 years of related experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
Experience managing complex projects ranging from $500K to $10M in value.
Extensive knowledge of the engineering design phase of projects
Experience with greenfield and brownfield mining and/or heavy industrial projects.
Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
