Position Overview

Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team in the Maritimes. This is starting as a remote arrangement located out of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador and will eventually transition into a hybrid role once our office is established in St. John's. Travel will be required to different client sites throughout the area. Working across mining, utilities, and heavy industrial projects, you'll take ownership of multidisciplinary engineering projects from initiation through close-out while helping shape how we continue to grow as a company in this region.

This is more than a project management role. It's an opportunity to influence project delivery, strengthen client relationships, mentor project teams, and contribute to the continued growth of a collaborative and entrepreneurial engineering firm. If you're looking for a role where your work has a visible impact, your ideas are valued, and your career can grow alongside the business, we'd love to hear from you.

About Us

Giffen is a Canadian company with offices in Vancouver, BC, Toronto, ON, and soon to be St. John's (NL) that provides fit-for-purpose engineering and project delivery solutions, specializing in the mining, utility, and heavy industrial sectors.

Maintain and develop strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, including close-out. Identify, document, and communicate client requirements while effectively managing multiple stakeholders.
Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost, and schedule issues with the Client as they arise.
Ensure projects are managed in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
Clearly define project scope and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
Manage change and project interfaces while monitoring performance to identify and mitigate issues early.
Oversee all project scope elements, manage design, support procurement, and construction activities to align with the project schedule.
Support proposals and cost estimates.
Collaborate with the Project Services Team to establish cost reports, forecasting, approvals, trend identification, and cost-saving opportunities.
Define project quality requirements.
Support developing a project schedule that allows work to be executed efficiently while ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Provide clear and focused leadership to the project team, creating a vision for success and a strategy to achieve key milestones and objectives.
Ensure accurate and timely progress reporting to both the client and internal teams. Continuously monitor communication channels between project staff, the client, and third parties, implementing improvements as needed.
Identify project risks and opportunities, ensuring timely resolution and proactive mitigation strategies.
Set clear objectives for the design team and ensure adherence to the client's Basis of Design, regulations, and codes.
Ensure all HSE procedures are followed and that project participants understand and document compliance with safety requirements.
