Millwork Engineer / CNC Programmer
Overview
Giffin Interior is a nationally recognized architectural millwork manufacturer just south of Pittsburgh. We build high-end commercial interiors and custom projects, and we’re looking for a Millwork Engineer / CNC Programmer to join our Pre-Production team. This role blends engineering, machining logic, and real-world buildability to support our shop, production efficiency, and overall project success, including generating CNC programs and panel saw patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate CNC programs for nested routers, 5-axis equipment (Stiles/Homag), and panel saw patterns.
- Translate approved shop drawings into engineering models and production-ready documentation.
- Ensure buildability, AWI compliance, and alignment with Giffin construction standards.
- Collaborate closely with Drafting, Engineering, Production, Project Management, and Purchasing.
- Support the shop with technical questions and troubleshooting.
- Identify issues early and contribute to continuous improvement around quality and throughput.
Qualifications
- Experience in architectural millwork, casework, or custom fabrication.
- Strong AutoCAD skills; experience with Microvellum (or other library-based systems) preferred.
- CNC programming experience is a plus (Homag/WoodWOP beneficial).
- Ability to read complex shop drawings and translate them into accurate production instructions.
- Organized, detail-driven, and strong at solving buildability challenges.
- Experienced fabricators or carpenters with real-world AutoCAD proficiency are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates from both union and non-union backgrounds are welcome.
