Brief Description

GlassRatner is a leading provider of specialty professional and advisory services, including forensic accounting and litigation support, restructuring and insolvency advisory, transaction support services, retained executive search, and compliance, risk, and resilience consulting.

GlassRatner Advisory Canada Inc. is seeking a Manager to join its Restructuring & Insolvency Advisory practice in Toronto. Our team advises companies, secured lenders, and other stakeholders in complex restructuring, insolvency, and distressed situations. The practice provides receiver, monitor, and trustee mandates, court-supervised sale and investment solicitation processes, and lender-side advisory services across CCAA, BIA, and CJA frameworks, including matters with cross-border Canada–U.S. dimensions.

This is an opportunity to work directly with senior practitioners and gain meaningful client and court-related exposure while contributing to active, high-profile mandates.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage workstreams across receiver, monitor, and proposal trustee mandates, including the financial and operational analysis of insolvent or financially distressed companies.
Develop, review, and oversee cash flow forecasts, financial models, variance analyses, liquidity assessments, and scenario analyses for debtor companies and secured lenders.
Analyze complex financial and operational information to identify trends, key performance drivers, liquidity requirements, restructuring alternatives, and potential areas of risk.
Manage key aspects of court-supervised Sale and Investment Solicitation Processes (SISPs), including financial analysis, bid evaluations, normalization, transaction due diligence, and coordination with stakeholders.
Prepare and review Monitor’s Reports, receiver’s reports, court materials, advisory memoranda, presentations, and other client deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency.
Lead financial analysis and due diligence for lender workouts, secured creditor advisory engagements, debt restructurings, turnaround situations, and other special situations.
Serve as a key day-to-day contact for legal counsel, lenders, management teams, investors, and other stakeholders, effectively communicating findings, recommendations, and engagement updates.
Manage engagement workstreams, including project planning, deliverables, timelines, and coordination of junior team members.
Review and provide guidance on analyses and work product prepared by Associates and Senior Associates, supporting their development and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Conduct company and industry research and contribute to client presentations, proposals, pitch materials, and business development initiatives.
Identify issues and potential solutions proactively, exercising sound judgment in complex, time-sensitive, and often ambiguous situations.
Manage multiple concurrent engagements and special projects while maintaining strong client service and meeting critical deadlines.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
Approximately 5–8 years of relevant professional experience, with meaningful experience in restructuring, insolvency, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or financial advisory.
Demonstrated experience with CCAA and/or BIA proceedings, including monitor, receivership, proposal trustee, and/or lender advisory mandates.
Experience managing significant engagement workstreams and coordinating deliverables across internal teams, clients, legal counsel, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, scenario modelling, and financial statement analysis.
Strong understanding of restructuring and insolvency concepts, with the ability to assess complex financial situations and develop practical recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and reviewing professional client deliverables and court-related materials.
Demonstrated ability to review the work of junior professionals, provide guidance and feedback, and contribute to team development.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements, competing priorities, and tight deadlines.
Based in Toronto or willing to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within a Big Four, national, or established restructuring/advisory firm.
Experience managing or playing a significant role in sale processes, bid evaluations, transaction due diligence, distressed M&A, or other special situations.
Canadian CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting designation preferred.
CIRP designation or active pursuit of the designation is considered a strong asset.
Experience supervising, coaching, and developing junior professionals.
Demonstrated client relationship management skills and experience contributing to business development, proposals, pitches, and new engagement opportunities.
Familiarity with Canadian financial reporting standards and financial research platforms such as Capital IQ or Bloomberg.
Strong commercial judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex or incomplete financial information and develop practical solutions.
Willingness to travel as required.
