Original job description

Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is an independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC, Canada. At GNS, we provide an exceptional educational experience for students from age three to Grade 12, emphasizing robust academics, healthy social and emotional development, and inquiry-based, student-centred learning within a supportive community. Guided by the IB framework, we foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning that prepares students for success in school and beyond.

GNS is a thriving community whose members care about each other and the world around them. We are looking for individuals who will share in our passion for preparing outstanding citizens of character who will contribute to the world through their leadership, a commitment to service, and an understanding that we are all responsible for the future of our communities. We currently seek exceptional candidates for the following opportunity:

Store Associate

Part-time position

Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

(Full-time hours during peak periods in June and Aug)

Rate: $23 / hour

Start: immediate

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Store Manager, the Store Associate supports the day-to-day operations of the School’s Gryphon Door, providing uniforms, school supplies and other specialty items to students, families and staff. Working both independently and as part of a team, this role delivers warm, attentive service and helps create a positive and welcoming experience for every customer. The Store Associate develops a strong knowledge of GNS uniform requirements to help students be properly outfitted and supports the growth of GNS-branded apparel, non-uniform items and promotional merchandise. For additional details on this position, please see the attached job description.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a warm, personable and service-oriented individual who enjoys helping others and takes pride in creating a welcoming experience for every customer. You will bring retail and customer service experience, along with a friendly and approachable manner and a natural ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues. You are confident using technology and able to quickly learn the School’s point of sale system and related tools. A sound understanding of retail operations, including cash handling, inventory processes, merchandising and maintaining store standards, would be an asset.

Our “Must-Haves”

You are a caring and compassionate individual who actively reflects the GNS values of Truth, Courage, Caring, Individuality and Community. You demonstrate professionalism, integrity and sound judgement in all that you do. You are known for your exceptional customer service, positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to support others. You connect easily with people, communicate with tact and diplomacy, and bring a dependable, solutions-focused approach to your work. You are highly organized, detail-oriented and able to effectively manage your time and priorities to ensure a smooth and successful store operation.

Why work for GNS?

We are a committed group of people that love what we do and believe firmly in living our values. We work hard but we also believe in having fun while we’re at it! Along with a wonderful working environment, we also offer free parking, access to a beautiful fitness centre, wellness programs and much more. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter indicating personal strengths and accomplishments by October 23, 2026; however, the position will remain open until filled.

It is the policy of Glenlyon Norfolk School to provide equal employment opportunity for all qualified persons. Additionally, we invite those who have demonstrated a commitment to upholding the values of equity, diversity and inclusion and who will assist us in expanding our capacity in this regard. To correct the conditions of disadvantage in employment in Canada, we encourage applications from members of groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized. All qualified people are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.

Glenlyon Norfolk School will only use and retain personal information for the purpose for which it was collected. Any personal information provided will be maintained in confidence.
