Security Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid - 2 days on-site, 3 days work from home (potential to go to 5 days per week on-site)

Contract Details

Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension based on business needs and performance; conversion possible based on business needs and performance)
Pay Rate: C$90.00–C$108.00 / Hour (CAD)
Shift / Schedule: Monday–Friday, core business hours - 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day; overtime possible
Travel Requirements: Not required

Job Summary

This is a Security Specialist contract role supporting two key governance initiatives: governance, monitoring, and tracking of regulatory exam findings, and governance and oversight of a technology issues management program. The contractor will be embedded within a team of 9 and will interact with various other teams and senior executives on an internal basis. Performance will be measured by hitting timelines and the quality of work delivered. The role offers a collaborative work culture with opportunity to be part of the foundation and grow within the program.

Key Responsibilities

Provide governance, monitoring, and tracking of regulatory exam findings
Support governance and oversight of the technology issues management program
Conduct control testing and audit-related activities
Write reports and materials intended for executive-level audiences
Collaborate with internal teams and senior executives
Participate in approximately 3 hours of meetings per day

Required Skills

10 years of experience in regulatory exams and findings, internal audits, technology issues management, or technology GRC
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite - PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio
Previous control testing and audit experience
Ability to write reporting intended for executive level
Strong communication skills - verbal and written
Strong critical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail, proactive, and organized
Ability to work independently

Preferred Skills

Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC) experience
Big 4 consulting firm experience
Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, or any other automation tools for reporting
CISA and CRISC certifications or equivalent (strongly preferred for the issues management project)

Education Requirements

Post-secondary education required
Certifications are an asset
CISA and CRISC certifications or equivalent (strongly preferred - see Preferred Skills)

Required Experience

10 years of overall experience in regulatory exams and findings, internal audits, technology issues management, or technology GRC

Important Notes

Candidates with a pattern of job hopping or multiple short-term contracts may be disqualified from consideration
Interview process: 2 steps, virtual with manager and team lead, approximately 30 minutes
