- Pay Rate: C$70.00–C$85.00 / Hour (CAD)

Job SummaryThis is a new role focused on project work and day-to-day support within a collaborative team of 16 members. The position offers a training period and provides excellent opportunities to support team members, work on a variety of projects, and thrive within a great culture. Familiarity with insurance at the bank is considered an ideal background. The contractor will not have access to any customer data, and approximately 10–15% of time is spent in meetings, with all interactions being internal.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new solutions as required for engineering programs and projects within assigned area
- Develop new features and perform unit / component test for new application development initiatives aligned to business needs and in accordance with technology architecture standards
- Support business enquiries and business activities through execution of small enhancements and break / fix implementations (e.g., source code changes); may also be responsible for peer code review
- Work with technology partners to ensure the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals
- Analyze the technical requirements to recommend pragmatic and sound engineering specific solutions for own area; may be involved in coding/story estimates
- Work with other stakeholders and internal technology partners to ensure engineering solutions meet technical direction, requirements, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals
- Monitor product lifecycles, ensuring specifications and functionality support business objectives and engineering decisions, undertaking re-development where required
- Document and verify system components, applications, system infrastructure, security, integration, operability, and engineering related architecture designs associated with a program or project
- Participate in quality management reviews, in particular reviews of the designs, prototypes, and other requirements work products to ensure they fulfill the requirements
- Create and maintain quality code, ensure defect-free programming consistent with standards; provide code maintenance and support during testing cycles and post-production deployment and participate in reviewing peer coding
- Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports and outages, perform impact assessment for incidents, and facilitate internal and external communication throughout incident resolution
- Participate in identifying and recommending development / testing solutions / tools in support of project / application objectives
- Assist in the development / maintenance of comprehensive processes for prevention of issues and participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents applying appropriate quality measures
Required Skills- Strong technical skill set – Java / Spring Boot, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines
- Collaboration skills

- Good understanding of how infrastructure works
- Expertise in Web Application Design/Development – Java/Spring Boot
- Experience with Angular, Node.js
- Experience with Tomcat, JBoss runtime environments
- Experience with Web Services Design/Development – REST, SOAP, JAX-WS, JAXB2, JAX-RS, Web API
- Experience with Agile delivery methodology, particularly Scrum or a derivation (e.g., Product Backlog Definition, User Stories Estimation and Prioritization methodologies, Task Breakdown, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospective), and related tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA)
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery methodologies and tooling (e.g., Maven, Nexus, Jenkins)
- Experience with GIT (Stash) and Bitbucket
- Relational DBMS proficiency (i.e., Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2)
Preferred Skills- Integration with Guardwire
- Cloud Technologies (i.e., Azure, AWS)
- Integration with vendor products and experience working with third-party external companies
- Familiarity with insurance at the bank
Required Experience- 8+ years of overall experience in software development
Education Requirements- Post-secondary education; however, experience is more important than formal degree
