Senior Application Architect Manager

Role Summary

The Senior Application Architect Manager, Architecture & Integrations leads the design, delivery, and support of secure, scalable applications and integrations that power our business and partner systems. They oversee solution architecture and onboarding, ensuring seamless charity partner integrations and PCI-compliant development practices. With responsibility for guiding a high-performing technical team, they drive innovation, reliability, and incident resolution while maintaining operational excellence. By aligning technology with organizational needs, this role strengthens system performance, partner confidence, and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

• Own the architecture for new and existing applications, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
• Lead requirements gathering with business stakeholders, charity partners, and internal teams to translate needs into technical specifications.
• Design and implement technical direction for backend Insight development architecture.
• Own and define the SDLC, ensuring compliance with PCI security standards.
• Vigilantly monitor and upgrade all applications and platforms to ensure OS and Application Servers are secure and protected against potential security breaches.
• Approve technical designs, workflows, and solutions before development begins.

Onboarding & Project Delivery

• Lead the technical onboarding process for new charities, ensuring seamless technical integration into our systems.
• Own the end-to-end solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and support transition.
• Define and implement standards for code reviews, version control, and testing of any code prior to production release.
• Primary technical contact for our charity partners when CS requires, escalating to VP Technology where needed.
• Implement and manage internal deployment process.

Support & Incident Management:

• Provide Level 2 support for operational and technical issues, addressing urgent problems related to database performance, tablet management, and data integrations.
• Be on-call for incident management (in rotation), ensuring quick resolution of technical problems that impact daily operations.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify, diagnose, and resolve system and data issues in a timely manner.

Leadership & Management

• Manage, coach, and mentor the independent contributors.
• Oversee task assignment and workload distribution for team members involved in application support and onboarding.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Participate in performance reviews, goal setting, and professional development planning for direct report(s).

Your Experience and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in application architecture, development, and operational maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.

Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences and mentor junior team members.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within scope in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Your Technical Skill

Expertise in:

• System architecture, microservices, SOA, and software design patterns
• Secure, database-driven API and web application development in Microsoft Server and Azure Cloud environments
• API Gateways, REST, SOAP, OAuth, .Net, SQL, Bootstrap, JQuery, Node.js, and React
• Security best practices (data encryption, secure data transmission, access control)
• Familiarity with PCI standards and requirements
