Globe 24-7 is working with a leading Canadian gold producer to identify a Short Range Planning Engineer opportunity to support an underground operation in northern Ontario. This full-time, onsite role offers the chance to contribute to short range planning, scheduling, and production optimization for a reputable gold operation.
The Role
The Short Term Mine Planning Engineer will report to the Senior Production Engineer and play a central role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of short range mine plans for a large underground gold operation. The position is focused on delivering practical, executable 7-day and 21-day schedules that align development and production activities with broader operational and strategic objectives.
- Lead the preparation of 7-day and 21-day schedules, detailed short term mine plans, and production forecasts to support safe and efficient operational execution
- Ensure short range planning activities align with corporate production targets, underground development priorities, and the broader mine strategy
- Integrate infrastructure, construction, and maintenance requirements into the short term planning process to support coordinated delivery across the operation
- Maintain alignment between short range, mid range, and long range mine plans, ensuring planning continuity and responsiveness to changing operational priorities
- Work closely with operations, geology, engineering, and technical services teams to confirm plan compliance and support practical implementation in the field
- Provide technical support to underground operations, construction teams, and technical services personnel on planning assumptions, sequencing, and execution requirements
- Conduct scenario analysis and trade off studies to identify opportunities to improve production outcomes, mine sequencing, and overall plan performance
- Contribute to monthly reporting processes, including variance analysis against plan, production performance review, and input into budgeting activities
- Support senior engineers through active participation in site wide technical and operational initiatives aimed at improving mine performance
- Provide guidance and technical direction to junior engineers, engineers in training, surveyors, and drill and blast planners to strengthen planning capability across the team
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering
- P.Eng designation preferred. Current EITs on track for designation may also be considered
- 3 - 5 years of underground mining experience, including previous experience in an underground mine planning role
- Strong knowledge of underground narrow vein mining methods, with long hole mining experience being highly desirable
- High proficiency in Deswik mine planning and scheduling software or equivalent mine planning tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced operational mining environment
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem solving capability across technical and operational teams
- Commitment to safe, responsible, and sustainable mining practices
- Ability to work effectively across both office based and underground field environments
The Offering:
- Salary range of $98,600 - $147,900 CAD with additional incentives including but not limited to: Travel Allowance, vacation allotment, and benefits
- Camp based role with a 14-days-on / 14-days-off rotation
