Location: Vaughan, Ontario (GTA)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Opportunity

Our client, an established and growing multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm in the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Project Manager II) to join its team in Vaughan.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical building services professional who combines strong technical knowledge with project management expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering projects.

In this role, you will oversee mechanical building services projects from planning through design, construction administration, and completion. This position offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility within a growing engineering consulting environment.

If you're ready to build on your mechanical engineering experience, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and expand your influence across technical delivery and client relationships, this could be an excellent next step in your career.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Our client offers a supportive, collaborative environment with a strong focus on professional development, employee well-being, and work-life balance.

Highlights include:

Competitive Compensation: Salary increases based on individual performance.
Performance Bonuses: Additional earning potential tied to performance.

Hybrid Work Environment: A hybrid working arrangement that supports flexibility.
Comprehensive Benefits: Employer-paid health and dental benefits at no cost to employees.
Professional Development: Company-sponsored external courses and ongoing internal training opportunities.
Career Advancement: Direct exposure to senior management, with opportunities to expand your project leadership and technical responsibilities.
Leadership Opportunities: The chance to mentor project coordinators and junior project managers while contributing to team development.
Company Social Events: Employer-sponsored social activities and trips, including opportunities to travel.
Mileage Reimbursement: Paid mileage for work-related travel.

Key Responsibilities

Manage mechanical building services projects from planning and design coordination through construction administration and completion.
Work collaboratively with project managers, project coordinators, engineers, designers, and other technical professionals to deliver successful project outcomes.
Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, task assignments, resource requirements, estimated hours, and key milestones.
Track project progress and performance to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
Manage project deliverables, identify potential risks or delays, and implement solutions to maintain project timelines and efficiency.
Review existing mechanical installations and coordinate assessments to support project planning and design decisions.

Apply knowledge of mechanical building services to support the effective delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects.
Oversee and coordinate mechanical design deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
Coordinate site inspections and work with site inspectors to ensure required project activities are completed effectively.
Facilitate communication between project management, design teams, and site inspectors to resolve technical questions and maintain project coordination.
Delegate construction administration responsibilities, including shop drawing reviews, contract document preparation, and related project documentation.
Monitor construction administration activities to ensure deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and within assigned budgets.
Coordinate project documentation and construction-related activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure project deliverables align with applicable building codes, relevant industry standards, and client requirements.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

Mentor and support project coordinators, junior project managers, and other team members.
Provide guidance on project management practices, technical coordination, client communication, and project delivery.
Delegate responsibilities effectively, monitor progress, and help team members prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Foster a collaborative environment where team members work toward shared project goals.
Identify opportunities to improve project management procedures, internal workflows, and operational efficiency.
Strengthen coordination between project management, design, and construction administration teams.
Promote accountability, quality control, and consistent project delivery practices.
Take initiative in resolving challenges and supporting the broader objectives of the engineering team.

Communicate project updates, technical considerations, schedules, and financial matters clearly and professionally.
Work with business development and proposal teams to prepare responses to client requests and support new project opportunities.
Contribute to proposals, project planning, and related business development activities as required.
Support client satisfaction by ensuring expectations are managed and project commitments are met.
Collaborate with senior management to support business objectives and the continued growth of the mechanical engineering practice.
