Original job description
As one of Canada’s leading alternative consumer lenders, we’re passionate about helping everyday Canadians create a brighter future. Our vision is to provide a path to a better tomorrow, today. We offer a full range of products, including non-prime leasing, unsecured and secured loans, and point-of-sale financing through easyhome, easyfinancial, and LendCare.
If you're seeking an exciting, high-growth environment where your contributions truly matter, we want to hear from you! Join us, and together, let's create a future of financial empowerment.
The Senior Cloud Engineer designs and builds goeasy’s AWS platforms with DevOps and automation at the core. The key focus of the role is to replace manual administration (ClickOps) with version-controlled infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated workflows for virtually all routine operations, supporting secure, scalable application, data, and AI workloads.
Partnering with Cloud Operations, DevOps, Application, Data, Architecture, and IT Security teams, this role owns infrastructure delivery and lifecycle automation, making reviewed, tested deployments the default and manual changes-controlled exceptions.
What will you be doing?
- Build multi-account AWS foundations using AWS Organizations and Control Tower, including account structures, guardrails, and service control policies.
- Engineer secure networking and private connectivity using VPCs, routing, DNS, endpoints, PrivateLink, Cloud WAN, and Transit Gateway.
- Partner with Data teams on database and lakehouse infrastructure across RDS, Aurora, S3, Databricks, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, and Redshift.
- Implement least-privilege IAM, permission boundaries, and cross-account access for platforms, pipelines, and engineering teams.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for provisioning, updates, and decommissioning, managing state, dependencies, and drift throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.
- Own GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications, including reviews, testing, security scans, approvals, container builds, ECR publishing, promotion, and recovery.
- Convert manually managed infrastructure and repetitive tasks into IaC, scripts, API integrations, and self-service workflows that reduce operational toil.
- Deploy containerized and serverless workloads, including runtime configuration, scaling, and secure secrets management.
- Embed logging, tagging, monitoring, and audit controls into platform designs in partnership with IT Security.
- Maintain module documentation, architecture decisions, and runbooks; share knowledge to enable independent platform adoption and operation.
- 6+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or DevOps engineering, including 4+ years building and supporting production AWS environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state, resource imports, drift detection, and pipeline-driven lifecycle management.
- Strong knowledge of AWS networking and IAM, including private connectivity, routing, DNS, least privilege, permission boundaries, and cross-account controls.
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools, including Git collaboration, automated checks, approvals, and release recovery.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, ECR, and AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Fargate, or Lambda, along with secure configuration using Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation to replace manual processes and improve the reliability and scalability of cloud environments.
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages, including experience using APIs and cloud SDKs to automate operations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and share knowledge across teams.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Advanced Networking – Specialty are considered an asset.
- Interest or experience in AI-assisted development and agent-based cloud solutions, including Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore Runtime, LLM architectures, or AI agents for secure and automated cloud management, is considered an asset.
