Original job description

Join one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and be part of something extraordinary – welcome to goeasy! At goeasy, our people and culture are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to be recognized for it. We’ve earned prestigious accolades such as Waterstone Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, Canada’s Top Growing Companies, and the TSX30, highlighting us as one of the top performers on the TSX. We’re also honoured to be named a Greater Toronto Top Employer and recognized by Great Place to Work® as having the Best Workplaces for Women & Most Trusted Executive Teams, and included on TIME Magazine’s 2025 list of Canada’s Best Companies.  These honours reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture where talent thrives and innovation drives us forward.

As one of Canada’s leading alternative consumer lenders, we’re passionate about helping everyday Canadians create a brighter future. Our vision is to provide a path to a better tomorrow, today. We offer a full range of products, including non-prime leasing, unsecured and secured loans, and point-of-sale financing through easyhome, easyfinancial, and LendCare.

If you're seeking an exciting, high-growth environment where your contributions truly matter, we want to hear from you! Join us, and together, let's create a future of financial empowerment.

At goeasy, payroll is more than getting people paid on time. It’s an opportunity to deepen your expertise, take on bigger challenges, and help shape how we work. As our Senior Payroll Specialist, you'll play a key role in keeping payroll accurate, compliant, and running smoothly across our Canadian operations while leading process improvements, strengthening our systems and controls, mentoring junior team members, and partnering closely with HR and Finance.

What will you be doing?

Payroll Administration & Compliance:
- Own and oversee end-to-end bi-weekly, multi-provincial payroll in UKG Pro, including payroll changes, balancing, audits, and post-verification, investigating discrepancies and resolving complex issues within required timelines.
- Guide and support junior payroll staff, providing direction on payroll processes, procedures, and more complex inquiries.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll issues while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Use payroll data, queries, and audits to identify trends, investigate root causes, strengthen controls, and proactively address payroll risks.
- Stay current on payroll legislation, employment standards, company policies, and procedures, communicating relevant changes to the team.
Reporting, Month-End & Year-End:
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations for Finance, HR, and other stakeholders, ensuring information is accurate and delivered on time.
- Lead month-end payroll activities, complete required reconciliations, and escalate issues to payroll leadership where necessary.
- Lead year-end payroll processing and reconciliations, guiding the team throughout and keeping the Payroll Manager updated on progress and issues.
Systems, Projects & Continuous Improvement:
- Act as a key resource for UKG Pro and WFM, troubleshooting payroll and timekeeping issues, providing training and support to the team, and working with internal teams or external partners to resolve system issues.
- Lead payroll projects and improvement opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate processes, controls, reporting, and system functionality.
- Build strong working relationships across HR, Finance, and other departments, acting as a key payroll contact.
- Support the Payroll Manager with team priorities, projects, and other payroll initiatives as required.

What experience do you have?

Post-secondary education in Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Relevant NPI payroll certification or actively working toward certification.
3–4+ years of full-cycle payroll experience across multiple employee groups, organizational levels, and Canadian provinces.
Hands-on experience supporting or performing year-end payroll processing and reconciliations.
Previous experience with UKG Pro/UltiPro, Workday, Dayforce, SAP, or Payworks.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables).

We offer a Flexible Work Program that provides you the ability to work three days onsite per week, from our Mississauga office.

Internal Applicants: please apply through the link and provide written endorsement from your current manager.

$77,000.00 – $88,000.00 CAD (includes base salary and bonus)

We’re committed to attracting and rewarding top talent. Our compensation ranges are thoughtfully designed to reflect market competitiveness, internal equity, and the experience and impact each candidate brings to the role.

At goeasy, we believe transparency fosters trust - and that rewarding performance with fair, competitive pay and meaningful growth opportunities is key to our success.

Should your total compensation expectations fall above the posted range, we still encourage you to apply. If selected for an interview, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss this with our recruitment team, as there may be flexibility based on your background and overall fit. Total compensation includes base salary and bonus.
