Original job description

About the company

Our client is an established, growing manufacturing and project-based business in the Fraser Valley. They’re a close-knit team that values a positive attitude, collaboration and continuous improvement. They’re adding an Accounting Manager to their leadership team, someone who wants to have a real impact on how the business runs and grows.

The role

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll lead a small accounting team while staying close to the day-to-day work. You’ll partner with senior leadership on business decisions and work closely with operations to keep billing accurate, costs tracked and cash flowing.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, payroll and month-end close.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage project billing, including deposits, progress billing, holdbacks and change orders.
  • Monitor and forecast cash flow, and manage banking and supplier credit relationships.
  • Handle GST/PST, payroll remittances and other filings.
  • Build and maintain strong internal controls and processes.
  • Lead, coach and develop the accounting team.
  • Work with operations and sales to improve workflows and make sure all project costs are captured.
  • Take part in leadership meetings and planning sessions.

What you bring

  • An accounting diploma or degree. A CPA designation or progress toward one is an asset, not a requirement.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience in an operating company (industry, not public practice).
  • Experience leading or mentoring a small team. Senior accountants ready to step up are welcome.
  • Experience with project, job-cost or progress billing in manufacturing, construction or a similar environment.
  • A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, with the confidence to own the finance function.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first, solutions-focused attitude.
  • An interest in supporting a sales-driven business.

Why join

  • A seat on the leadership team, with real influence on business decisions.
  • A collaborative, family-style culture that values its people.
  • A stable, long-term career opportunity in the Fraser Valley.
  • Competitive salary, extended health and dental, and paid vacation.
